Bloomington releases Water Quality Report
Recently, The City of Bloomington Utility Department published its annual drinking water quality report, providing information about local drinking water quality. This is a federally mandated report under the US Safe Drinking Water Act. In 2023, 14 contaminants were detected in Bloomington’s drinking water, yet according to the study, we still meet the necessary Federal Standards for safe water. Ivy Tech to host seminar for aspiring entrepreneurs
Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington will host a one-day seminar for aspiring entrepreneurs. The event will be held Thursday, June 27th when attendees will will hear talks, engage in workshops, and network. Professionals from the South Central Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC), Ivy Tech, and local entrepreneurs will all be on hand to provide practical tips and industry connections. Tickets are $10 for students or $20 for general admission.

Food Truck Friday
Food Truck Friday at Bloomington’s Switchyard Park, 11am-9pm. 14 food trucks this week and evening performances by Maria Devigili and Jenn Cristy.

Night Paddling tonight at Griffey Lake
Bloomington’s Griffey Lake will host their Night Paddle event this evening from 9-1030pm. All ages are welcome, but those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Watercraft, paddles and life jackets are provided. Register online through the Bloomington Parks and Rec Facebook page. $12 for City residents, $15 for those living outside of town. Participants will meet at the Griffey Boathouse, and don’t forget to bring a flashlight.

Indiana announces sites for new Fire Training locations
Gov. Holcomb and State Fire Marshal Steve Jones announced the next phase of Indiana’s Hub-and-Spoke Training plan: five new training-tower locations in eastern and southern Indiana. These sites are being built to help support Indiana fire departments made up of volunteers who are unable to travel far to receive the proper training. The second phase includes new facilities in Hartford City, Washington Township, Paoli, Rushville, and Chrisney.

Air Quality Warning for Central and South Central Indiana
Continuing into this weekend is warning of the air quality in the region. The warning is due to the serious combination of extremely hot temperatures and light winds leading to ozone development. Sweltering temperatures create unsafe conditions for vulnerable community members. Much of the state is under a Knowzone Action Day which is an advisory that dangerous conditions may arise for sensitive groups including people with asthma or COPD, children, elderly people, pregnant women, and those working outdoors. these individuals are encouraged to try and spend as much time as possible indoors
