Indiana Pacers Finish Las Vegas Summer League 3-2

The Indiana Pacers beat the Washington Wizards 74-65 in the Pacers final game of the Las Vegas Summer League. Cassius Stanley led the team with 19 points, Kiefer Sykes added 12 points and Isaiah Jackson added 11 points. The Pacers finished 3-2 with wins over Portland 97-64 and Oklahoma City 95-61. The Pacers lost to Atlanta 84-83 and New York Knicks 94-86.  All 30 NBA Teams competed in Las Vegas with the Pacers finishing in 9th place. Boston and Sacramento play for the championship game this evening at 9 PM on ESPN2 with former Indiana University Player Romeo Langford playing for Celtics in tonight’s game.  

Indianapolis Colts Beat Carolina Panthers in First Preseason Game

The Indianapolis Colts beat the Carolina Panthers 21-18 in the week 1 opening preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium. With Carson Wentz out recovering from foot surgery, Jacob Eason got the start for the Colts and was 15-21 for 183 yards passing. Eason was 4th round pick of the Colts in 2020 out of the University of Washington. Sam Ehlinger the Colts 6 round pick this year out of the University of Texas was 10-15 with 155 yards passing and one interception, he also rushed 8 times for 30 yards and had a two-point conversion. Benny LeMay and Jordan Wilkins had rushing scored rushing touchdowns for the Colts. The Colts’ kicking game was solid with field goals from Rodrigo Blankenship and Eddy Pinerio.  The Colts are back in action this Saturday when they travel Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Vikings at 8 pm with the game being broadcast on WXIN-TV, Fox 59 in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hosts NASCAR and Indy Car Doubleheader on Road Course

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course was center stage this past weekend with Will Power winning the Indy Car Race, Austin Cindric winning the NASCAR Xfinity Race on Saturday and AJ Allmendinger winning the NASCAR race on Sunday. It was the first time that the NASCAR Cup Series race on the road course. The Brickyard 400 had been raced on the oval every year since 1994. The road course inside the speedway was 14 turns and 2.439 miles long. It was second time that Indy Car and NASCAR raced on the day at Speedway. Last year both series competed on the 4th of July, 2020.     

Zionsville Little League Competes in Softball World Series

The Zionsville Little League Team from Zionsville Indiana finished 0-3 in Little League Softball World Series in Greenville North Carolina. The Team competed in the Jessica Mendoza bracket with four other teams from around the country. Zionsville lost to Salisbury North Carolina 7-0, Las Vegas Nevada 11-3 and Robinsville New Jersey 2-0. Their game with Muskogee Oklahoma was canceled due to weather and they did not make the elimination round.
