State Board of Ed amends new diploma proposal
The Indiana State Board of Education has released a second draft of a new High School Diploma proposal after receiving a lot of criticism questioning if students would be prepared enough for higher education. The new plan has students needing 42 credits to earn a diploma, with the ability to earn around 60 credits. Additionally, there are two readiness seals that Indiana high school students can achieve: an Honors Seal or an Honors Plus seal. For each of the two seals, students can obtain them in the enrollment, employment or the enlistment category.

If adopted, this will take effect with the class of 2029. Schools can opt in with the new requirements beginning with the 2025-26 school year.
