Academy Sports to open in Bloomington this week
A new retail store opens in Bloomington this week. Academy Sports and Outdoors opens its 8th Indiana store on the East side of Bloomington in the former Marsh Supermarket building. They will offer a soft opening today, and the grand opening will be later this week, on Friday. This will be the chain’s 289th location across the country, offering apparel, hunting and fishing gear, team sport equipment, and more.
Michael Ray Hodges dies, Briley Turner charges upgraded to murder
36-year-old Michael Ray Hodge from Bloomington, has passed away as result of his injuries from being stabbed by 25 year-old Briley Shayne Turner back on August the 18th. Charges have been upgraded by the Monroe County Prosecutor to Murder. Turner is believed to have hit Hodge with a baseball bat while he was in the shower, before stabbing him 9 times with a knife and tire plugging tool.
Ivy Tech Trustees to meet on September 17th
Ivy Tech Campus Trustees will hold a regular meeting from 330-5pm on Tuesday, September 17th in Lamkin Hall (C131) to consider and take action on such items as may be brought before them. The meeting open to the public
Music legend Tito Jackson dies at age 70
An Indiana born music legend died at the age of 70. Tito Jackson, the 3rd of nine siblings of the musical Jackson’s from Gary, Indiana, passed away of an apparent heart attack while driving yesterday from New Mexico to Oklahoma. The older brother of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who died in 2009, Tito was the guitarist for the world-famous Jackson 5, inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 1997. He leaves behind three sons and nine grandchildren.
