Freshman Charlie Heuer Comes off the Bench to get the Brace for Indiana University Men’s Soccer in a shutout win over Penn State Freshman Charlie Heuer entered Friday Night’s game with 2 appearances in 12 games and in his third career college match the Elmhurst, Illinois native scored 2 second half goals in 7 minutes and 42 seconds as the Indiana Hoosiers beat the Penn State Nittany Lions 2-0 at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Heuer has not played since the Bulter game September 4, in Indianapolis but coming in for Jack Waggoner at 60:08 mark he made the most of his opportunity. “Coach Yeagley said this your moment and i had to go out and make the most of it and i was happy that my teammates were help get my two goals and get this win” Indiana Freshman Charlie Heuer said after the match. Heuer sent a rocket to the bottom left corner after getting the throw in controlling it and getting space to hit home in the bottom left corner for the brace. The team waited a few minutes after the Freshman got in the locker room to start celebrating. “We gave him the silent treatment for a few minutes after we he walked in and then we dogpiled on him” Indiana Senior Patrick McDonald said after the game.

Brebeuf Jesuit beat Bloomington South 68-57 and Northview beat Edgewood 41-7. Columbus North 7-1 clinched a share of the Conference Indiana title and can win it outright on Friday traveling to 2-5 Terre Haute South. Bloomington North drops to 6-2 on the season and will host winless Southport Friday Night. Bloomington North led 14-6 at halftime and Columbus North outscored the Cougars 15-7 in the second half as the game ended 21-21 in regulation. Dash King found Jalen Williams in the first overtime to take a 28-21 lead. The Bulldogs scored on a touchdown pass to force a second overtime. Columbus North got the ball first in the second overtime Gino Prescott scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to make it 35-28. Dash King scored on a 10-yard run to make it 35-34 and the Cougars decided to go for the win Dash King was stuffed and injured and taken to the hospital after the game with a boot on his left leg. King was 13-26 152 yards passing with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. King rushed 17 times for 66 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Brebeuf Jesuit brought its high scoring offense to Fred Huff Memorial Field on the Southside of Bloomington after putting up 83 points on Terre Haute South a week ago. There was no short of scoring in this game as Braves had 739 yards of total offense and 10 touchdowns. Quarterback Maverick Geske was 27-36 for 559 yards and 5 touchdowns as he broke his own school record of 542 yards passing against Terre Haute South. Geske has thrown for 2,989 yards this season and 7,854 yards for his career. Braylen Townsend threw five touchdown passes and added a rushing touchdown. Brebeuf led 40-29 at halftime. Brebeuf has scored 384 points and given up 341 points this season. Bloomington South is 4-4 on the season and will travel to 4-4 Seymour Friday Night for the regular season finale. Edgewood fell to 2-6 on the season as the Mustangs trailed 38-0 at halftime. Edgewood scored a touchdown with 4:19 left in the Third Quarter and Northview added a field goal with 7:47 left in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs have scored 21 points in their six losses and 81 points in their two wins. Edgewood has given up 266 points and 251 of those in their six losses and just 15 points in their two wins. Edgewood will travel to 4-4 Brown County Friday night to battle for the Hoof and Talon Trophy.
Bloomington South wins the Boys Soccer Sectional Title at Home The Bloomington South Panthers beat the Martinsville Artesians 4-1 Saturday Evening to win the Boys Soccer Sectional Championship at Bloomington South. It’s the 13th Sectional title for the Panthers in school history and first since 2021. The Panthers 17-1 will host Center Grove 18-0 on Thursday in the Regional Semifinals and the winner advances to the Regional Championship game on Saturday Seymour against the other Semifinal between Seymour 13-5 and Castle 14-3-1 which will be played at Castle.
Bloomington South got on the board with 32 seconds left in the first half when Tom Henry Berry scored on a header in the box to put the Panthers up 1-0. The Panthers scored 2 goals in two minutes from Joe DeGiorgio and Konrad Polit. Martinsville got on the board with 28 minutes and 31 seconds to go in the match and the Panthers responded with 14 seconds left when Tom Henry Berry scored his second goal of the match for the brace and Panthers lift the Sectional Championship trophy at home. Martinsville ends the year at 13-2-3 and this was the Artesians first Sectional Championship game appearance in 14 years.
Evansville Memorial defeats Bloomington South to win the Jasper Boys Tennis Semi State Evansville Memorial beat Bloomington South 3-2 Saturday Morning to win the Jasper Boys Tennis Semi State. Evansville Memorial advances to the State Finals Friday and Saturday while Bloomington South finishes the season 14-9. The Panthers won both doubles matches, and the number 1 duo of Connor Couch and Josh Sang stay alive in the individual State Tennis Doubles Tournament. Evansville Memorial won all three singles matches and win their fourth Semi State Championship in program history winning in 1978,2013 and 2016. Bloomington South was looking for its 4th title and first since 2012 with previous titles coming in 1988 and 2009.
Terre Haute South defeats Bloomington South for the Class 3A Girls Soccer Sectional Championship Terre Haute South beat Bloomington South 1-0 to win the Class 3A Girls Soccer Sectional Championship Saturday Afternoon at Terre Haute North. The Braves 14-3-2 win their 9th Sectional Championship and first since 2011. Bloomington South ends the season at 12-4-1. Terre Haute South scored the only goal with 13:22 left in the match off a free kick that was flicked on in the box and knocked home. Bloomington South lost in the Class 3A State Championship Game a season ago has won 18 Sectional Championships. The Panthers beat Bedford North Lawrence 9-0 and Terre Haute South beat Terre Haute North 1-0 in the Semifinals Thursday Night. In the Class 2A Semifinals Thursday Night at Cascade Danville beat Edgewood 1-0 as Danville scored with 3 minutes and 26 seconds left to advance to the championship game and end a memorable season for Edgewood with a 14-2-1 record.
