Indiana Cross Country Sweeps Indiana Open

The Indiana Women’s and Men’s Cross-Country teams swept the Indiana Open in its first home meet since 2017. Sophomore Gabriel Sanchez from Lowell Indiana won the Men’s 8K race with a time of 25:13.94. Sophomore Mariah Wehrle from Indianapolis won the Women’s 5K race with a time of 18:02.14 for her first career individual title. The Hoosiers have Monroe County Ties, Edgewood Grad Austin Haskett placed 3rd with a time of 25:30.76, Bloomington North Grad Paul Rushton finished 16th with a time of 26:31.76 and Bloomington South Grad Jack Gillard finished 19th with a time of 29:26.12.    Miami Of Ohio was the only other team to compete in the race with a few Hoosiers running unattached meaning they are affiliated with the team during this meet. The Hoosiers will travel to Terre Haute for the John McNichols Invitational on Saturday September 18th the Men’s 8K race is scheduled for 9 am while the Women’s 5K will be at 9:45 AM.

Top Ranked Indiana Men’s Soccer Splits in Adidas IU Credit Union Classic

The Top Ranked Indiana Men’s Soccer Team lost to Creighton 3-0 and beat Xavier 1-0 to split a pair of games at the IU Adidas Credit Union Classic at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington. The Blue Jays scored 61 seconds into the game and never looked back keeping the Hoosiers on their heels are night long. Creighton added a pair of goals in the 43rd minute and at the 78:40 mark. Creighton outshot the Hoosiers 18-7 and 6-4 with shots on goal. Both Goalkeepers made 3 saves a piece. Indiana bounced back Monday Night to beat Xavier 1-0 with a goal at the 9:08 Mark by Samuel Sarver for his first goal of the season. Xavier outshot IU 7-5 but both teams had 2 shots on goal. The Hoosiers made 2 saves while the Musketeers made one. Xavier beat Ohio State 2-1 on Friday and Creighton and Ohio State played to a 1-1 double overtime draw Monday.  Creighton wins the Classic with 4 points followed by Indiana and Xavier with three points and Ohio State 1 point. Indiana is 3-1 on the season will be back in action this Friday Night when they travel to 16th ranked Akron at 7 PM.

Indiana Volleyball Goes 2-1 at Western Michigan Invite

The Indiana Volleyball Team finished 2-1 at the Western Michigan Invite in Kalamazoo. The Hoosiers dropped the opener to the Host Western Michigan in 5 games 12-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-11 and 11-15. The Hoosiers Swept Purdue Fort Wayne 25-16, 25-21 and 25-17. In the final game Indiana beat Southeast Missouri State in 5 games 19-25, 25-23, 14-25, 25-17 and 15-9. Indiana is now 5-1 on the season and remains on the road this weekend when they travel to Atlanta Georgia for the Georgia Tech Tournament. The Hoosiers will face Mississippi State on Thursday at 11 am followed by Oklahoma at 11 AM and host Georgia Tech at 7 PM on Friday.

Indiana Field Hockey Goes 2-1 Over the Weekend

The Indiana Field Hockey Team went 2-1 over the weekend. The Hoosiers beat Miami Ohio 1-0 on the road Last Friday, Lafayette beat the Hoosiers 4-0 in Columbus Ohio Sunday and the Hoosiers won the home opener Monday Afternoon beating Bellarmine 3-0. Hailey Couch scored her 2nd goal of the season against Miami Ohio. Kira Curland scored 2 goals and Anna Gwiazdzinski added the third against Bellarmine on Monday. Curland has scored 4 goals on the season and Couch is the only other player with multiple goals on the season. Indiana is 4-1 on the season and travels to Louisville Friday for a 6 PM matchup with the Cardinals.
