Marian University and the University of Indianapolis Renew Football Rivalry in 2025 and 2026 The Monumental Matchup has been revived. According to a release, Marian University and the University of Indianapolis agreed to a home-and-home football series for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. It will mark the first time the two programs have faced off since 2016. They also played against each other in 2015.

“We had only 10 games on the schedule this year,” UIndy head coach Chris Keevers said. “And we have a good football team, so I wanted to play 11. So, I got with Ted Karras, Marian’s head coach, and we put together this game in Week Zero. Both programs are really excited. We know them, they know us, and our kids are jacked up about it. I know our fan base and our alumni will be excited about it as well. We’re gonna open there next year but we really want to make it a home game for us. We’re going to really try to get our fanbase out there and make it as close to a home game as you can get. It’s going to be a great environment.”

Marian will open the 2025 season with a home game against UIndy at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28. “This is a great opportunity for the city of Indianapolis and for our football program,” Karras said. “The game will be a strong early test for our football team, and we look forward to opening our season under the lights on the West Side.” In 2015, Marian won, 28-22. A year later, the Knights were victorious, 38-16. UIndy went 10-2 last season. Marian was 8-2.
