Wright ran in the first touchdown of the second half to extend the Freight’s lead to 33-7, early in the third quarter. About halfway through the third quarter, Muhammad Rodgers ran the ball into the end zone to make it 33-14. Wright scored his third touchdown of the game and fifth in two games, to make it 40-21 after a good extra point from Baloga. McClurge had a late game touchdown and successful two-point conversion for the Oilers to make it 40-29 but Tulsa did not have enough time to make the comeback. Two Indiana University Baseball players make the Golden Spikes Award Watch List Halfway through the 2025 season, the Indiana Baseball team has two of the top 45 amateur baseball players in the country. Outfielders Devin Taylor and Korbyn Dickerson were listed on the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, as announced by USA Baseball on Thursday (April 3) afternoon. The award is handed out annually to the best player in college baseball. Taylor was on the original preseason list and is now joined by his outfielder counterpart, Dickerson. The two have combined for 23 home runs, 87 hits, 72 runs, 12 doubles and 79 RBIs through the first 29 games of the season. Both players have started all 29 games and have hit back-to-back in the order since the second weekend of the year.
After playing two seasons at Louisville, Dickerson made the jump into the transfer portal and landed in IU’s program with head coach Jeff Mercer. He’s completely taken off this season, turning into one of the leading candidates for Big Ten Player of the Year. Dickerson has the joint Big Ten lead in home runs (13) this season and is also top three in the conference in hits (45), RBIs (46) and runs scored (37). Taylor – an All-American last season – is on pace to earn All-American honors again in 2025. He’s recorded his third-straight season with 10 home runs and is two blasts away from breaking the program record. He’s been a hit man at the plate with 42 base knocks. He also has the joint lead in the conference with 28 walks.
IU last had players on the Golden Spikes Midseason Watch List in 2014 when Kyle Schwarber and Sam Travis both made the in-season update. Schwarber was picked in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft while Travis went on to be named Big Ten Player of the Year in the same season. The award will name semifinalists on May 18th following the end of the regular season. They will cut down to a group of finalists before naming the winner of the award during the 2025 Men’s College World Series.
Indianapolis Native Xavier Booker Transfers from Michigan State to UCLA for Men’s Basketball It didn’t take long for Xavier Booker to find a new home. The Michigan State basketball sophomore will remain within the Big Ten and transfer to UCLA, according to Booker’s Instagram account and multiple reports. The former five-star recruit will have two years of eligibility remaining. Booker was one of three Spartans who enter the portal Tuesday, less than 36 hours after MSU’s season ended Sunday in the Elite Eight with a loss to Auburn in Atlanta. The 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward from Indianapolis started the first three games of this season before being moved into a reserve role, then saw his minutes begin to dwindle as the Spartans’ 30-7 season progressed.
Over a four-game window in late November and early December, Booker scored 52 of his 155 points and grabbed 21 of his 73 rebounds for the season. MSU was only plus-10 with him on the floor during that stretch in which he averaged 13.0 points and 5.2 rebounds. However, in the other 29 games he played in 2024-25, Booker averaged just 3.6 points and 1.8 rebounds, finishing with 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds over 12.8 minutes per game. He was a rotation-low plus-31 for the season entering the NCAA tournament and played just three minutes of mop-up time in the Spartans’ 25-point win over Bryant in the first round and did not see the floor again. Booker averaged 7.1 minutes over his final 11 appearances, scoring 17 points with 10 rebounds and going 5-for-14 from 3-point range. However, Booker did not score in his final four games and had two rebounds in those limited minutes. UCLA finished its first season as a member of the Big Ten with a 23-11 overall record and 13-7 in league play, beating MSU 63-61 on Feb. 4 in Los Angeles in the lone meeting between the two programs. Booker had six points, three rebounds and two blocks in 15 minutes for the Spartans in that game. The Bruins lost to Tennessee in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Two other MSU players, junior combo guard Tre Holloman and redshirt freshman shooting guard Gehrig Normand, both have officially entered the portal, the school confirmed. Players can enter the NCAA’s transfer portal and still return to their original schools.

A pair of players with the same first name, Delaynee McCreary and Barton, delivered key two-out hits to give the Trojans the lead. McCreary lined an RBI triple down the left-field line before Barton had a single to push McCreary across the plate for seven unanswered runs and a two-run advantage. Mohr gave up a leadoff single but the defense turned a double play on the next batter before a foul out to left into the glove of McCreary completed the comeback win for Taylor.
