Study Indicates That Both Indiana University Basketball Programs have Top 15 Enterprise Value Despite disappointing results on the court, the men’s IU basketball program remains one of the nation’s most valuable. That’s according to a new study by Ryan Brewer, an associate professor of finance at Indiana University Columbus, reported on by the Wall Street Journal. Brewer’s analysis finds Indiana has the third highest enterprise value ($279 million) in the nation among all men’s college basketball programs. At $34 million, his data indicates IU has the sixth most revenue, while its $12.9 million of cash flow ranks eighth. Indiana ranks behind North Carolina and Duke, and ahead of Ohio State and Louisville to round out the top five. The determination of an overall enterprise value is an attempt to measure what the selling price of the program would be similar to how professional sports organizations are sold. In the same study, the IU women’s program is ranked No. 14 in the nation with annual revenue of $8.5 million, and an enterprise value of $50 million. Brewer cautions the actual enterprise value could be substantially higher because a college basketball program is a rare asset. Moreover, with revenue sharing looming, how much resources a school chooses to allocate to basketball players could significantly impact values going forward.

Brownsburg senior center Avery Gordon, who is a Purdue signee, led the second-team choices. The others are McCutcheon sophomore Lillie Graves and three juniors — Myah Epps of Homestead, Joslyn Bricker of Warsaw and Lola Lampley of Lawrence Central. The third team is junior-heavy, led by Makalusky’s teammate, Kennedy Holman. She’s joined by Lillian Barnes of Valparaiso, Madalynn Shirley of Evansville Central and Brooklynn Renn of Silver Creek. Pendleton Heights senior Kaycie Warfel also made on the third team after finishing her career by topping the 2,000-point mark.
Taylor University Men’s Lacrosse falls to # 7 Concordia at Home The Taylor men’s lacrosse team had another NAIA Top 10 team on the ropes at Wheeler Field but could not pull out the upset victory. This time, TU saw No. 7 Concordia battle back from a 9-5 halftime deficit to escape with a 13-11 victory over the Trojans. The two sides played to a 3-3 draw after the first 15 minutes of action, before goals from Will Vanderkodde and Jack Kaiser opened a 5-3 lead that the Trojans would maintain through the rest of the half. The TU advantage swelled to 8-4 with a goal from Ben Mueller, followed by back-to-back Jackson Dale scores. A strike from Will Saxby in the final minute sent Taylor to the break with a 9-5 cushion. Concordia (6-4, 3-1 WHAC) controlled the second half however, scoring all three goals in the third to slowly chip away at the TU lead and continued its stifling defense in the fourth to pull out the 13-11 win. Saxby and Dale paced the Trojans, combining for five goals and five assists, while Vanderkodde also performed well with a trio of scores and five ground balls. Ben Harrell was tough in the net once again, stopping 16 CU shots. RV Taylor (5-6, 0-4 WHAC) will host Senior Day on Saturday, April 12, against Siena Heights (5-4, 0-3 WHAC) in a 1:00 pm start.
