The Indiana Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans Make a Trade ahead of Next Week’s NBA Draft    While the Indiana Pacers team and coaching staff are still focused on winning an NBA title, Indiana’s front office is also making moves for the future. The fact that the Pacers are preparing for Game 6 of the NBA Finals, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Indianapolis, isn’t stopping Executive Kevin Pritchard from carrying on with trades. ESPN’s Shams Charania said Tuesday that the team has finalized a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pacers are reportedly sending a 2025 first-round pick (No. 23) and the rights to Mojave King in exchange for Indiana’s own 2026 first-round pick, which the Pelicans previously acquired.

This means the Pacers have now partially recouped assets they sent to the Toronto Raptors in the January 2024 trade for Pascal Siakam. As a result, Indiana now owns all of its future first-round draft picks after this year. While the timing of the trade may be surprising, this is not the first time a team has made moves while playing in the NBA Finals. In 2023, the Denver Nuggets swapped draft picks with the Thunder in the midst of facing the Miami Heat in the Finals. The Nuggets went on to win the series 4-1. The Pacers’ trade comes less than 24 hours after the Pacers’ Game 5 loss Monday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder now have a 3-2 lead in the NBA Finals series.

Taylor University Softball’s Livie Lehmann named Second Team CSC Academic All-American  The CSC Academic All-Americans were revealed on Tuesday, with Livie Lehmann receiving Second-Team honors after an incredible season with the Trojans. Livie Lehmann became the fifth Trojan in program history to earn Academic All-American honors. The junior is the first to receive the accolade since 2017. Lehmann excelled in the classroom with a 3.81 in her sport management courseload. Lehmann was also terrific on the field, being named NAIA Second-Team All-American after a campaign in which she broke the program’s single-season RBI record and career doubles record. The dynamic infielder tallied 13 home runs, 65 RBI, 20 doubles, and 34 extra-base hits, all of which landed in the top 12 of the entire NAIA. The Kenosha, Wisconsin Native helped the Trojans to a 30-20 record on the season, with Taylor looking to improve even further in the final year of a historic senior class of athletes. To receive the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher, have achieved sophomore status academically and played in 90 percent of his team’s games, made 66 percent of starts or, for pitchers, thrown 35-plus innings or made 17 appearances. Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution’s Sports Information Department and voted on by members of the CSC.
