#2 Indiana Wins the Big Ten Football Championship over #1 Ohio State The #2 Indiana Hoosiers knocked off the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes 13-10 Saturday Night in the Big Ten Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis before a record crowd of 68.214. The Hoosiers are 13-0 and continue to make history and when the Final College Football Playoff rankings are revealed and the 12-team field is announced. Indiana will be the Number 1 ranked team in the country and the unbeaten team left in FBS which are a first in program history. Indiana wins its third ever Big Ten Championship in Football 1945 the Hoosiers were 9-0-1 and won the conference outright, 1967 they split the Big Ten Championship and went to the Rose Bowl finishing 9-2 losing to USC in the Rose Bowl. 2025 Indiana is Big Ten Champions and on top of the College Football World and three more games left to play to do what many thought is impossible which is win the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Indiana beats Ohio State for the first time since 1988 snapping a 30-game losing streak to Ohio State and snapped the Buckeyes 16 game winning streak which was the longest in the FBS. Curt Cignetti is now 24-2 in his time at Indiana, and the Hoosiers avenge a loss to the Buckeyes last season in Columbus 38-15. The Hoosiers will be ranked number 1 in the Associated Press for the first time in program history. The Hoosiers held Ohio State to 58-yards rushing which is a program record 11th time that the Hoosiers have held the opponent under 100 yards rushing in a game this season.

Fernando Mendoza finished 15-23 for 222 yards passing with a touchdown and interception and was named the MVP of the Big Ten Championship Game. Charlie Becker had 6 catches for 126 yards including a 33-yard play that took the clock to the two-minute timeout. Elijah Sarratt had 3 catches for 37 yards and a touchdown. Kaleon Black and Roman Hemby combined for 121 yards rushing on 29 carries. Nico Radicic kicked two field goals but missed one as well. Indiana’s defense had 9 tackles for loss and 5 sacks and interception by Louis Moore. The Hoosiers pressured Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin all game long as the Sophomore finished 21-29 for 258 yards with an interception and a touchdown pass. Bo Jackson rushed 17 times for 83 yards.

Jeremiah Smith caught 8 passes for 144 yards and Carnell Tate had 4 catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Iniss threw 1 pass for 6 yards as the Buckeyes finished for 264 yards passing. Indiana got on the board first with a 29-yard field goal by Nico Radicic with 6:51 left in the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead. Ohio State gave Fernando Mendoza a hard hit early on and he was taken out for a play and returned. Ohio State scored on a 9-yard touchdown reception by Carnell Tate from Sayin to give the Buckeyes a 7-3 lead with 46 seconds left in the first quarter. Jayden Fielding hit a 30-yard field goal with 10:08 left in the second quarter to give the Buckeyes a 10-3 lead. Radicic hit a second field goal from 32 yards with 2:47 left in the second quarter as the Buckeyes led 10-6 going into the locker room.

Indiana took the lead when Mendoza found Elijah Sarratt on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 8:02 left in the third quarter as the Buckeyes trailed for the first time in the second half all season. Indiana made two huge stops in the second half with Julian Sayin being stopped short of the line to gain on a fourth down and 2 at the Indiana 5-yard line with 1:38 left in the third quarter. Ohio State had a chance to tie the game with 2:48 left in the game when Jayden Fielding missed a 27-yard field goal. The Buckeyes had one more chance as Julian Sayin threw a 46-yard pass to Jeremiah Smith with no time left as he was stopped at the Indiana 39-yard line when the clock ran out and the Hoosiers completed the mission with a perfect record and Big Ten Championship along with the top spot in the College Football Playoff.

There is still more history to be made the Heisman Trophy will be awarded next Saturday Night in New York City and many believed that quarterback that won this game would be the favorite to be Heisman Trophy winner which will be Fernando Mendoza which would be the first Heisman Trophy winner in Indiana University History. Ohio State is 12-1 and most likely the number 2 seed in the College Football Playoff as the Buckeyes look to defend their national championship. Indiana is the story in College Football. The Hoosiers have the second most losses in FBS History and only three bowl wins in program history. It has been the biggest turnaround ever and there is more to come for this team as the College Football Playoff run begins but for Hoosier Nation the dream has now become a reality that Indiana University Football sits atop the College Football World and Hoosier Nation will be celebrating this one for a while.

Louisville’s Fast Start to much for Indiana University Men’s Basketball to Overcome The #6 Louisville Cardinals opened the game with a 16-0 run to put away the #22 Indiana Hoosiers 87-78 Saturday afternoon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis in the 3rd annual CareSource Invitational that supports Mental Health Awareness. Louisville is now 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in neutral site games after taking down Cincinnati 74-64 at the Heritage Bank Center in downtown Cincinnati on November 21. Indiana drops their second game in a row as the Hoosiers are 7-2 on the season and 1-1 in neutral site games after beating Marquette 100-77 in the United Center in Chicago on November 9. The Cardinals had a balance effort with five scoring in double figures with Indianapolis Native Ryan Conwell scoring 21 points. Conwell who is graduate of Pike High School went 10-11 from the free throw line and nailed three triples. J’Vonne Hadley and Isaac McKneely each scored 15 points, Sanada Fru and Kobe Rodgers 12 points apiece Freshman Mikkel Brown Jr. was held to 9 points and Aly Khalifa added 3 points.

Louisville finished the game 25-54 for 46% from the field, 13-32 from three-point range for 42% and 24-26 from the free throw line for 85%. The Cardinals pulled down 34 rebounds, dished out 15 assists, 9 steals, 5 blocks and committed 13 turnovers. The Cardinals came in averaging 12 triples per game and scoring 94.6 points on average. Tucker DeVries led Indiana with 26 points hitting four triples and finished 12-13 from the free throw line. Nick Dorn finished 15 points going 5-7 from three-point range and Lamar Wilkerson added 12 points. The Hoosiers finished 26-63 from the field for 41%, 11-34 from three-point range for 32% and 15-19 from free throw line for 79%. Indiana pulled down 34 rebounds dished out 14 assists, 4 steals, 1 block and committed 13 turnovers.

The Hoosiers responded with an 8-0 run after the Cardinals opened the game 16-0 which was the Cardinals beat scoring run of the game. Lamar Wilkerson found Sam Alexis on the alley-oop with 13:28 left in the first half. Tucker DeVries hit back-to-back three pointers to make 16-8 Louisville for the Hoosiers best scoring run of the game. Indiana cut the Louisville lead to five points 19-14 with 9:01 left in the first half as the Cardinals outscored the Hoosiers 22-13 the rest of half as Louisville lead 41-27 at halftime. Louisville increased the lead to 19 points with 7:51 left in the second half 67-48. Indiana got the lead down to seven points with a triple by Nick Dorn 86-73 with 35 seconds left and a driving layup by Tucker DeVries 85-78 with 24 seconds left as the Hoosiers outscored the Cardinals 51-46 in the second half. Indiana had 28 points in the paint, 25 bench points, 18 second chance points, 17 points off turnovers and 7 fast break points. Louisville had 24 points in the paint, 15 fast break points, 15 bench points, 11 points off turnovers 5 second chance points.

Indiana Head Coach Darian DeVries credited Louisville for the start and the defensive effort as it was too much to overcome at the beginning of the game and he loved the fight his team showed after that initial run the Cardinals had. Indiana will return home on Tuesday Night at 8:30 to face Penn State. Louisville holds a 4-2 edge when these two programs are ranked. Indiana leads the all-time series 12-11 as Louisville has won two of the last three meetings all on a neutral court fi the last three seasons. It was a sold-out crowd of 18,777 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as the Cardinals beat Indiana for the second year in a row, but it was a different Hoosier squad then what they saw a year ago in the Bahamas. Louisville wiped Indiana off the floor when Mike Woodson was in charge and while Indiana could not get over the hump this time. Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers fought until the end of 16 points is too much overcome to start a game.

Illinois Smokes Indiana University Women’s Basketball in the Big Ten Conference Opener The Illinois Fighting Illini took care of Business Saturday Afternoon at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois with a 78-57 win over the Indiana Hoosiers. Illinois is 8-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Big Ten winning their sixth game in a row and remain unbeaten at home with a 6-0 and wins a Big Ten Conference opener for the first time since 2016-17 season. Indiana drops to 8-2 on the season and 0-1 in the Big Ten. Cereah Parchment posted her third straight double-double and her fourth of the season as she scored 15 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Gretchen Dolan and Maddie Webber led Illinois with 16 points each and Berry Wallace added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Destiny Jackson pulled down 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 points. Alliyah Guyton who is the daughter of former Indiana University Men’s Star A.J. Guyton did not play against her father’s alma mater.

The Fighting Illini were 34-71 from the field for 48%, 4-14 from three-point range for 29% and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. Illinois pulled down 39 rebounds, dished out 23 assists, 9 steals, 1 block and 11 turnovers. Shay Ciezki led Indiana with 23 points and 5 assists. Lenee Beaumont added 15 points and Edessa Noyan who started her third straight game scored 11 points and pulled down 4 rebounds. Valentyna Kadlecova and Maya Makalusky scored 3 points each and Neveah Caffey scored 2 points. Jade Ondineme, Faith Weiseman, Phoenix Stotjin and Jerni KIkau played but did not score. The Hoosiers finished 19-53 from the field for 36%, 7-20 from three-point range for 35% and a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line. Indiana pulled down 30 rebounds, 12 assists, 5 steals,1 block and 20 turnovers.

Illinois trailed early in the first quarter 2-0 as Shay Ciezki scored 20 seconds into the game for the Hoosiers. Gretchen Dolan tied the game 17 seconds later with a jumper in the paint. Ciezki put the Hoosiers on top 4-2 at the 8:58 mark then Cereah Parchment drained a three to give the Illini a 5-4 lead with 8:38 left in the opening quarter as the Fighting Illini went on a 10-0 run led the rest of the way and the Fighting Illini led 28-12 at the end of the first quarter. Illinois dominated for the first three quarters outscoring Indiana 17-11 in the second quarter as they took a 45-23 lead into the locker room at the break. Illinois outscored Indiana 23-9 in the third quarter as the Fighting Illini led 68-32 going into the final period. Indiana outscored Illinois 25-10 in the fourth quarter but Indiana could not close the gap as the Hoosiers have lost two out of the last three games.

Illinois has won the last three meetings with the Hoosiers as Indiana leads the all-time series 49-33. Indiana is 22-22 all-time in Big Ten Openers and had won 7 straight as Teri Moren is now 8-4 in Big Ten Conference openers during her time in Bloomington. The Hoosiers will return to action Thursday at 7 PM when they host the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. It will be a long bus ride back from Champaign as the Hoosiers struggle without Forward Zania Socka-Nugemen who missed her third straight game due to a lower leg injury. The Hoosiers are lacking a consistent third scorer without Socka-Nugemen and bench play continues to be a major factor with only scoring three bench points in this loss. Indiana will have three more non-conference games remaining before jumping back into Big Ten Play at the end of the month. Indiana has been towards the top of the Big Ten for the last decade but if they do not get it together it will be a tough road for this team in a very tough Big Ten.

#10 Iowa State takes down #1 Purdue Men’s Basketball at Mackey Arena   Milan Momcilovic scored 20 points and Iowa State sank 11 3-pointers to propel No. 10 Iowa State to a dominant 81-58 win over No. 1 Purdue on Saturday. Momcilovic, Killyan Toure and Joshua Jefferson all hit three 3-pointers. Toure scored 13, Blake Buchanan 12, and Jefferson 11 for the Cyclones. Iowa State shot 59% in the second half. Leading 35-31 at halftime, the Cyclones used an 11-0 run to take a 48-33 lead with 17:17 left. Tamin Lipsey, Momcilovic and Toure sank three consecutive 3-pointers to finish the spurt. Iowa State kept building on its lead from there, leading by as many as 27 points. The Cyclones shot 54% while the Boilermakers hit 41%. Purdue had 15 turnovers, three more than the Cyclones. Purdue was 4 of 18 on 3-pointers. The Boilermakers didn’t help themselves at the free-throw line either, hitting just 6 of 14. Braden Smith led Purdue with 11 points and Oscar Cluff and Daniel Jacobsen each scored 10.

Butler Men’s Basketball beats Boise State at Hinkle Fieldhouse   Dylan Andrews scored 20 points as Boise State beat Butler 77-68 on Saturday. Andrews also contributed six rebounds for the Broncos (6-3). Drew Fielder scored 16 points and added five rebounds. Javan Buchanan finished 5 of 10 from the field and scored 10. The Bulldogs (7-2) were led in scoring by Michael Ajayi, who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Drayton Jones added 12 points and four blocks. Finley Bizjack had 10 points and four assists. Boise State entered halftime up 33-31. Fielder paced the team in the first half with 10 points. Boise State pulled off the victory after a 15-2 second-half run erased a seven-point deficit and gave them the lead at 54-48 with 12:26 remaining in the half. Andrews scored 13 second-half points.

Taylor University’s Sam Gladd Named NAIA Baseball Preseason All-American   Taylor University’s Sam Gladd has been named to the 2026 NAIA Baseball Preseason All-American Team, the NAIA national office announced on December 3. The 17-member team was selected by the NAIA Baseball Coaches Association All-America Selection Committee. Gladd becomes the fourth baseball preseason All-American in Taylor history, and the third Trojan honored on the baseball preseason All-American list in four years.

Gladd, a senior from Columbia City, Indiana, ranks third among TU all-time career leaders in home runs (36), fourth in slugging percentage (.587) and 10th in RBIs (151) entering the 2026 campaign. The first baseman earned first-team All-Crossroads League honors last spring, while slugging .637 with a career-high 15 home runs. He’s slashing .300/.437/.587 overall in 161 career appearances at the plate. Last season, Gladd also picked up a pair of CL Player of the Week nods along with the NAIA National Player of the Week accolade on March 17.

Gladd is one of several key returners for the ninth-ranked Taylor baseball team coming off a record 47-win season last spring, which marked the Trojans’ fourth straight appearance in the NAIA national tournament. TU also swept the Crossroads League tournament and regular season titles for the second straight year. TU opens the 2026 slate at the Coach Calderone Classic, hosted by No. 15 Arizona Christian in Glendale, Arizona on January 22-24.
