Indiana Men’s Soccer Beats Ohio State 3-0

Indiana Men’s Soccer dispatched Ohio State 3-0 Tuesday night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. It’s the third straight shutout for the Hoosiers and they have outscored their opponents 13-0 in the last three games. The Hoosiers have dominated the Buckeyes since 2011 with a 12-1-1 record and the Ohio State last beat the Hoosiers in 2016. The Hoosiers and Buckeyes were even with 12 shots and 4 shots on goal apiece. Indiana scored at 17:11 mark with a goal from Tommy Mihalic for his 4th goal of the season. Maouloune Goumballe scored at 63:30 mark and Brett Bebej capped it off at 84:40 mark. Ohio State falls to 4-7-1 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers are 8-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten. Indiana will Travel to Penn State Sunday for Noon showdown with the Nittany Lions on the Big Ten Network.

Bloomington South Bloomington North and Edgewood Start Sectional Volleyball Play

The 2021 State Girls Volleyball Tournament continues tonight in Class 4A at Martinsville with Bloomington South Taking on Columbus East at 6 PM followed by Bloomington North taking on East Central at 7:30 PM. The Winners will advance to Saturday’s second semifinal 12:30 PM. Martinsville beat Columbus North 3-0 in the opener Tuesday night and will face Bedford North Lawrence in first semifinal at 11 AM Saturday Morning with the championship game scheduled for 7 PM Saturday night. In Class 3A at Owen Valley, West Vigo takes on Brownstown Central at 6 PM followed by Edgewood and South Vermillion at 7:30 PM. The winners will advance to Saturday’s second semifinal at 1 PM. Northview beat Brown County 3-0 in the opener Tuesday Night and will face Owen Valley in the first semifinal Saturday morning at 11 am with the championship game scheduled for 7 PM Saturday evening. In Class 1A at Loogootee Lighthouse Christian will face the host Loogootee at 10 AM Saturday followed by Shoals against the North Daviess-Vincennes Rivet game at 11:30 AM with the championship at 7 PM Saturday evening.

IHSAA Adopts Mercy Rule for Upcoming Boys and Girls Basketball Season

The Indiana High School Athletic Association has adopted the Mercy Rule for Girls and Boys High School Basketball and will take effect for this 2021-22 season. It will be in effect for all levels of play and in the IHSAA State Tournament with the exception of the State Finals. A running clock will be initiated after the first half when one team has a lead of 35 points or more. Once the running clock begins, regular timing procedures will not be used for the remainder of the game. The Game clock will run continuously except for the following situations when it will be stopped. An official time-out for an injured participant, A charged team time-out occurs, Intermission between third and fourth quarter, anytime a foul is called that will result in free throws and anytime officials determine it is necessary for safety reasons.  

Bloomington South Boys Soccer Takes on Southport in Regional Semifinals

The Bloomington South Boys Soccer Team will take on the Southport Cardinals in the Class 3A Regional Semifinals tonight at 6:30 PM at Greenwood HS. The Winner will advance to the Regional Championship game on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM where they will face the winner of the Castle-Columbus East game. Bloomington South comes in 12-6-1 and while Southport is 14-4-1. The two teams met September 25th at Southport where the Cardinals won the game 2-1 and all three goals came in the 2nd half. Both Teams advanced to the regional by winning the Sectional Championship. Bloomington South beat Bloomington North 1-0 and Southport beat Perry Meridian 1-0.
