Indiana Football Host 10th Ranked Michigan State for Homecoming

Indiana Football is coming off a bye week and it will be another tough task for the Hoosiers as they take on 10th ranked Michigan State in Memorial Stadium at noon tomorrow for homecoming. The game can be seen on Fox Sports 1. Michigan State is 6-0 and ranked 10th in the country. The Spartans have a high-powered offense led by quarterback Payton Thorne who has thrown for 1,575 yards, 14 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Running Back Kenneth Walker III who transferred in from Wake Forest has rushed for 913 yards on 129 yards and 9 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Jayden Reed has 23 catches for 492 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns along with a rushing touchdown and is a dangerous punt returner taking two punts to the house this season. Wide Receiver Jalen Nailor has 23 catches for 490 receiving yards with 6 touchdowns. Indiana 2-3 and 0-2 in the Big Ten has been injury riddled with quarterback Michael Penix Jr week to week with a shoulder injury and will a game time decision. Jack Tuttle is 8-18 passing on the season with 168 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Running Back Stephen Carr has rushed for 386 yards on 102 carries with 3 touchdowns. The Hoosiers running back core is depleted with David Ellis out for the rest of the season with season ending ankle surgery. Ellis had 3 carries for 12 yards rushing this season. Tim Baldwin Jr who was second on the team in rushing yards with 103 entered the transfer portal last week. Indiana beat Michigan State 24-0 in East Lansing a season ago and is looking to keep the Old Brass Spittoon which is the trophy the two teams play for.

Final Week of the Regular Season for High School Football

It’s the final week of the regular season for high school football in the state of Indiana this evening. Edgewood is at home while Bloomington North and Bloomington South will hit the road for this final week of the regular season. Edgewood will host Brown County for the Hoof and Talon trophy on the red turf in Ellettsville at 7 PM. Edgewood is 1-6 and have lost four in a row has been shutout the last two games outscored 105-0. Brown County 3-5 and have lost three in a row. Bloomington South is back in action after having last week off. The Panthers 6-1 travel to Indianapolis Chatard for 7:30 PM kick. The Trojans who started the season 0-4 have won four in a row and play on of the toughest schedules in the state. Bloomington North will look to end the season on a positive note when they travel to Southport this evening. The Cougars are 5-3 but have lost 2 in a row. Southport is 0-8 under first year coach Alex Bettag and wants avoid is first 1st winless season since 2006.

Indianapolis Colts host Houston Texans Sunday

The Indianapolis Colts are back in action Sunday at 1 pm on CBS when they host the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Colts 1-4 lost to the Baltimore Ravens 31-25 in overtime on Monday night after blowing a 25-9 lead with 12 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. The Colts struggled when cornerback Xavier Rhodes left the game with a concussion and will be doubtful for Sunday. The Colts have not lost by more than 12 points this season in there 4 losses. Wide Receiver T.Y. Hilton has returned to practice after a neck injury has kept him out all season. The Texans come in 1-4 on the season and have lost four straight since there opening week win at home to Jacksonville. Rookie quarterback Davis Mills from Stanford has thrown for 669 yards 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions since taking over for Tyrod Taylor. Taylor is on injured reserve after a hamstring injury forced him out in week two. Houston will be looking for its first road win of the season while the Colts will be looking for its first home run of the season.

Bloomington South Girls and Boys Soccer in Regional Championship Games

Bloomington South Girls Soccer will face Castle Saturday afternoon for the Class 3A Regional Championship game at 4 pm at Seymour. The Panthers beat Columbus North 3-0 Wednesday Night in the Semifinals at Columbus North while Castle beat Floyd Central 6-0 at Floyd Central. Bloomington South comes in 19-0-1 while Castle comes in at 15-3-2. The two teams met August 21st at Castle with Bloomington South winning 4-0. The Winner will advance to the Semi State to face the winner of East Central and Carmel. The Semi State will be held at Evansville North or Seymour and will be determined after Saturday’s matchups. The Bloomington South Boys Soccer team will play Castle at 2 PM at Seymour tomorrow after the Panthers beat Southport 4-1 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw in the regional semifinals at Greenwood Thursday Night. Neither team scored until the overtime session with Southport scoring first with 2:12 left in the first overtime and CJ Santiago scored with 2:15 left in overtime to tied it up. Nino Pizzo sealed the penalty for South. Castle beat Columbus East 3-1 at Columbus East Thursday night to advance to the Regional Championship game.
