Kyle Schwarber Hits Grand Slam for Boston Red Sox in Game 3 Of ALCS

Former Indiana University Baseball player Kyle Schwarber hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 2nd inning to lead the Boston Red Sox over the Houston Astros 12-3 in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series at Fenway Park in Boston. Red Sox lead the series 2-1 and scored 6 in the bottom of the second inning. Boston had 11 hits and Schwarber was 1-4 at the plate. Boston scored 3 more runs in the bottom of the 4th to make it 9-0 before Houston scored three in the top of the fifth to make it 9-3. The Red Sox scored 2 runs in the bottom of sixth and one in the bottom of the eight. Houston had 5 hits in the game and 2 errors. In 8 postseason games this season Schwarber is 9-32 at the plate with 3 Home Runs, 8 Runs, 6 RBI’s, 1 Double, 4 Walks and 8 Strikeouts.

Indiana Pacers Open the NBA Regular Season in Charlotte

The Indiana Pacers will open the 2021-22 NBA regular season when they take on the Charlotte Hornets at 7 PM tonight in Charlotte North Carolina. The Pacers were 34-38 a season ago beating Charlotte in the play in tournament before losing to Washington in second play in game. Malcom Brogdon agreed to a 2 year 45-million-dollar extension with the Pacers that will guarantee 89.3 million for the next 4 years. Brogdon averaged 21.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists a season ago. Rick Carlisle returns for his second stint as head coach and looking to get this Pacers team back to the playoffs. Charlotte was 33-39 a season ago and has a very young team with just three players over the age of 30. La Melo Ball was the rookie of the year last season averaging 15.7 points, 6.1 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals for the Hornets.    

Indiana Men’s Golf Finishes 9th at Quail Valley Collegiate

The Indiana Hoosiers men’s golf team finished the penultimate tournament of the fall slate in ninth (850; -14) after 54 holes at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational hosted by Michigan State. Senior Mitch Davis was dialed in for the third and final round of the tournament and led the Hoosiers with a 5-under 67. He knocked in five birdie attempts and an eagle on No. 14. He finished t-12th at 209 (70-72-67; -7), his eighth top-20 finish of his collegiate career. Davis finished tied for second among Big Ten Conference competitors in the tournament. Kansas won the tournament with a 829 total score which was 35 under par. The Hoosiers will wrap up the fall slate at The Williams Cup October 25th and -26th played at the Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Indiana-Maryland Football Set for Noon October 30th on Big Ten Network

The Indiana football program will take on Maryland at noon on the Big Ten Network on Saturday, October. 30th. The Hoosiers and Terrapins will kick off from Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. Indiana 2-4 and 0-3 in the Big Ten and Maryland 4-2 and 1-2 in the Big Ten will meet for the 10th time in program history. The Hoosiers own a 7-2 overall record in the series, which started with games in 1934 and 1935, and resumed when Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2014. Maryland will travel to Minnesota this Saturday 3:30 PM on ESPN2 while Indiana Host Ohio State this Saturday 7:30 PM on ABC.
