Indiana Football Faces 5th Ranked Ohio State

Its another tough game for Indiana Football as the 5th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes come to a sold-out Memorial Stadium tomorrow night with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 PM on ABC. Indiana is 2-4 on the season and all four losses have come against ranked teams and this will be the fourth top 10 team Indiana has faced this season. Ohio State is 5-1 and 3-0 in the Big Ten with the Buckeyes only loss coming at home to Oregon. Indiana has not beaten Ohio State since October 8th 1988 41-7 in Columbus which has been labeled as the “Darkest Day” and the Hoosiers have not won at home against the Buckeyes since October 10th 1987 when the Hoosiers won 31-10.  Ohio State leads the series 76-12-5 and the Buckeyes have won 25 straight against the Hoosiers dating back to 1991.  The two teams tied 27-27 October 13th, 1990 in Bloomington. Wide Receiver Ty Fryfogle became the 11th Hoosier to reach 2,00 receiving yards in his career. Tight End Peyton Hendershot needs 4 catches and 95 yards to set the program marks for tight end. Ohio State is coached by Ryan Day who is in third season as head coach. Day was the acting head coach to open the 2018 season and was 3-0 and 28-3 overall and a perfect 18-0 in the Big Ten.  

Edgewood Travels to Washington as High School Football Sectionals Kick Off

The High School Football post season begins tonight as the Edgewood Mustangs will hit the road to face the Washington Hatches in Class 3A Sectional First Round Opener at 7:30 PM. Edgewood is 1-7 on the season with their lone win coming in Week 3 at Indianapolis Washington 49-18. Edgewood has been shutout the last three weeks and averages 13.6 points per game while giving up 36.5. Washington is 0-8 on the season which was the first time since 2019 they have going through the regular season winless and 3rd time since 2014. The Hatches are averaging 7 points per game and giving up 45.6 points on defense. This will be the 3rd time these two teams will meet in the sectionals with the road team winning both matchups. Edgewood beat Washington 47-18 on October 25th, 2019 in Washington. Washington Beat Edgewood 32-16 October 30th, 2020 in Ellettsville. Bloomington North and Bloomington South have the week off and will start Sectional play next Friday October 29th in Class 5A.   

2023 HS Basketball Prospect Jakai Newton to Announce College Decision

Indiana Men’s Basketball will find out this afternoon at 3 PM if 2023 target Jakai Newton will make Bloomington his home for college. Newton is a 6-3 190-pound combo guard from Newton HS in Covington Georgia and he will decide between Indiana, Georgia and Vanderbilt. If Indiana lands Newton, he would be the first commit in the 2023 class and would be the 2nd player from the state of Georgia to commit to the Hoosiers joining Kaleb Banks who committed for the 2022 class. Newton cannot sign a national letter of intent until November 2022 or April 2023 which would be his senior year.

Indianapolis Colts Travel to San Francisco 49ers for Sunday Night Football

The Indianapolis Colts will be traveling to the West Coast to play the San Francisco 49ers at 8:20 PM on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The Colts are 2-4 and 1-2 on the road this season after a 31-3 home win last Sunday against the Houston Texans. Colts quarterback Carson Wentz has thrown for 1,545 yards 9 touchdowns and 1 interception. Jonathan Taylor has rushed for 472 yards and 4 touchdowns. Michael Pittman Jr has 403 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. The 49ers 2-3 and 0-2 at home this season and are led by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo with 925 passing yards, 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 4 games.  Rookie Quarterback Trey Lance has thrown for 354 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception in 4 games. The 49ers have lost 3 in a row after a 2-0 start. Tight End George Kittle is on injured reserve after catching 19 passes for 227 yards in 4 games. Deebo Samuel leads the receiving core with 548 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns. Both teams average 23 points a game and Colts allow 21.8 points while the 49ers allow 23.8 points per game.
