5th Ranked Ohio State Dominates Indiana Football 54-7
5th ranked Ohio State continues to own Indiana Football as the Buckeyes crushed the Hoosiers 54-7 in a sold-out Memorial Stadium in Bloomington Saturday Night. “It was ugly, painful. Not Good” Indiana Head coach Tom Allen Said in his post-game press conference. Ohio State has beaten Indiana 26 straight times since 1991 and leads the all-time series. 77-12-5. Ohio State scored all six times in the first half leading 44-7 at halftime as the Buckeyes had 539 yards of total offense and scored 47 unanswered points. Indiana tied it 7-7 with 2:58 left in the 1st quarter when Jack Tuttle found Peyton Hendershot on a 7-yard touchdown pass. Hendershot had 5 receptions for 35 yards and became the schools all time leader in career receptions for a tight end. The Hoosiers had 128 yards of total offense and injury woes continue as Tuttle was left the game with a lower injury after he threw the touchdown pass to Hendershot. Tuttle returned for one more series before missing the rest of the game. Tuttle was 4-7 for 41 yards passing along with an Interception. True Freshman Donaven McCulley from Lawrence North HS in Indianapolis was 1-6 passing for 30 yards and had 11 carries for 9 yards. Grant Gremel a Redshirt Sophomore from Noblesville was 3-4 passing for 9 yards. Indiana will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Maryland who is 4-3 and 1-3 in the Big Ten Conference for a Noon Kickoff on the Big Ten Network.
Edgewood Shuts Out Washington in First Round of HS Football Sectionals
The Edgewood Mustangs beat the Washington Hatches 16-0 in the first round of the Class 3A Sectional 30 Football Tournament in Washington Friday Night. Edgewood is 2-7 and will host Vincennes Lincoln 2-8 this Friday night at 7 PM. Vincennes Lincoln beat Princeton 48-20 at Princeton last Friday. These two teams will meet for the first time. Edgewood ended a 3-game scoreless streak and Washington finishes the season 0-9 and the 3rd time the Hatches have finished a season winless since 2014 when they were 0-10 along with 2019. Brown County and Owen Valley will play in the other Sectional Semifinal Friday at 7 PM at Owen Valley. Bloomington North and Bloomington South had the week off and will be in action this Friday Night.
2023 HS Basketball Prospect Jakai Newton Commits to Indiana Men’s Basketball
6-3 Combo Guard Jakai Newton from Newton HS in Covington Georgia announced Friday afternoon that he has committed to the Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Basketball program for 2023. Newton chose the Hoosiers over Georgia and Vanderbilt. He becomes the first player in the 2023 class for Mike Woodson and becomes the 3rd player from the State of Georgia to commit to the Hoosiers since Mike Woodson took over in the offseason. Michael Durr from Atlanta transferred from South Florida in the Offseason to the Hoosiers and 2022 Commit Kaleb Banks is from Fayetteville. Newton cannot sign a national letter of intent until November 2022 or April 2023 which is his senior year of High School.
Bloomington North Girls and Boys Bloomington South Boys Cross Country Advance to State
The Bloomington North Boys Cross Country team finished 2nd with 129 points and Bloomington South Boys finished 5th with 196 points at Brown County Semi State and will advance to the State Finals this Saturday in Terre Haute. Bloomington North Girls finished 5th with 175 points and will advance. Lilly Myers finished 7th for Bloomington South and will advance as individual but the Panthers were 7th with 238 points and will not advance as the top 6 teams go to state. Edgewood’s Clara Crain will be at state with 11th place finish qualifying as individual but the Mustangs finish 12th with 331 points and will not advance. Columbus North won both Girls and Boys Team and Individual titles. The State Finals will take place this Saturday at Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute. The Boys will Start at Noon and the Girls will start at 3 PM.
