The IHSAA will hold the draw for the 51st annual IHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament tonight at 7 PM on IHSAA TV.org hosted by Greg Rakestraw.
The Sectionals will start Tuesday and continue through Saturday with each host school determining the days and times for tournament. The Regionals will be held May 26-27. The Semi State will be held May 30, and the State Finals are set for June 5-6 at North Central HS In Indianapolis.
Bloomington South will host the five-team sectional with Bloomington North, Brown County., Edgewood and Owen Valley. The tentative schedule for the Sectional is set for Tuesday through Thursday.
Bloomington South has won the last two Sectional Titles and 19 overall dating back to 1975. Bloomington North has won 18 Sectional Titles dating back to 1976 and depending on the draw these are the two teams that are the favorites to win the sectional and keep their dominance sectional going.
Owen Valley has won four Sectional titles in 1999, 2000, 2010 and 2011. Brown County and Edgewood are looking for their first sectional title. With the exception of 2020 when the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the Bloomington Schools did not win the sectional was 2010 and the only other time since 2000 the Bloomington schools did not win a sectional was 2008.
