Indiana University Football Class of 2027 Target Monshun Sales Sets His Commitment Date  Indianapolis-based 5-star class of 2027 wideout Monshun Sales has set a July 17 commitment date. The 6-foot-5 and around 205-pound Sales will announce live on the Pat McAfee Show in the Noon to 2 p.m. ET window. According to the industry averages, Sales is a 5-star, the No. 8 overall player in the class, and the No. 2 receiver.  If he picks the Hoosiers, he would be the highest-rated recruit in IU football history. Sales is choosing from finalists Indiana, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas and LSU. Sales had 37 catches for 794 yards and 9 touchdowns on offense. He posted 56 tackles as a safety on defense. Sales helped Lawrence North go 7-3 as a junior in 2025. He has a .9957 grade in the 247Sports Composite.  Dasan McCullough is the current best all-time, with a .9701 rating.  McCullough was the No. 75 overall player in the 2022 class.  IU has never landed a 5-star recruit in the ranking’s era.

Here’s what Rivals’ Charles Power says on Sales profile page at that outlet-High upside wide receiver prospect with an elite combination of size and speed. Checks in at around 6-foot-4.5, 205 pounds with 32.25-inch arms and 9-inch hands. Posts excellent marks on the track, especially at his size, running 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.4 seconds in the 200 meters. A vapor trail on vertical routes. Has the potential to take the top off of defenses with regularity. Shows quality tracking skills, locating the football over his shoulder. Competitive as a blocker and physical while working as a safety.

And here’s 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins-One of the biggest freakshows in the country with his hulking frame and elite athletic markers. X wide receiver projection that can stretch defenses vertically with his speed and make contested grabs on the outside with his size. Took the next step as a junior and was nothing but a mismatch. Attacks leverage with easy acceleration. Powers his way through contact without having to change course. Levitates to snag off target passes. Can run underneath the long ball but also produce big gains in the quick perimeter game with his agility and strength. Shines as a move blocker on the perimeter and showcases plenty of physicality while doubling as a safety on defense. Must keep improving as a route runner and fine-tuning his craft but has an extremely high ceiling with his top-end gear and catch radius.

Indiana University Women’s Golf Adds Emma Bradley as an Assistant Coach  Indiana women’s golf head coach Brian May completed his coaching staff with the addition of assistant coach Emma Bradley, the program announced on Saturday. “I am excited for Emma to join our Hoosiers family,” May said. “She brings a passion for developing elite players, a competitive spirit, and a commitment to excellence that aligns perfectly with our program at Indiana. “We cannot wait to welcome Emma to Bloomington as we look to continue our vision to win Big Ten Championships and compete for National Championships!”

The Naples, Fla., native spent four seasons as the assistant coach at Florida Gulf Coast. The Eagles claimed three top-2 finishes in the ASUN Championships during her tenure, which included a 2025 ASUN Championship and advancement to the 2025 Lubbock Regional. Bradley was one of the nation’s top junior golfers. She qualified for four consecutive USGA Championship events, a streak that included an appearance in the 2017 U.S. Women’s Open Championship. She was a quarterfinalist in the 2018 Florida Women’s Amateur Championship. She shot rounds of 71-74 to finish tied for 12th in stroke play and earned the No. 16 seed in match play. Bradley won each of her first three matches to advance to the quarterfinals. Bradley tied for sixth and placed second among amateurs at the 2017 Florida Women’s Open & Senior Open after shooting 70-75-71.

She teamed up with Vanderbilt’s Morgan Baxendale to card 70-72, which tied for 25th place and earned a spot in match play at the 2016 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship. She also advanced to match play at the 2016 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, and she played in the 2016 U.S. Women’s Amateur. As a high school sophomore, Bradley won the 2015 FGSA Crandon Park GC Girls 16-18 tournament by 10 strokes after shooting 76-68. Her final-round 68 led the field by seven strokes. From 2010-16, Bradley was the state of Florida’s No. 1-ranked golfer in the class of 2018 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. At age 11, she shot 76 at Hideout Golf Club to become the youngest player in Florida High School Athletic Association history to win a regional state championship. After leaving Baylor University in 2019 to pursue her professional golf career, Bradley competed in Stage 1 of LPGA tour qualifying to secure Epson status. Bradley competed in multiple mini tour events.

Money vs Model: Vegas Likes Indiana University Football’s 2026 Outlook Better than ESPN’s Power Football Index When money is on the line, people tend to eliminate the noise and get down business. Perhaps that’s why Vegas likes Indiana’s preseason chance to make a third straight trip to the College Football Playoff much more than ESPN’s FPI. In fact, Indiana has the most significant make the CFP spread of any team when comparing Vegas vs. FPI.  Using the consensus odds at Action Sports Network and comparing to FPI, IU has an approximately 18 percentage point better chance in Vegas (75% vs. 57%). Here are a few other variations when comparing Vegas to FPI as it relates to IU: Win total:  Vegas – 10.5, FPI – 10.1, Win national title:  Vegas -11.4%, FPI – 6.6% and Win Big Ten:  Vegas – 28.6%, FPI – 18.7%.

You can thank ESPN for giving IU coach Curt Cignetti something else to stew over here.  After all, he’s always looking to have a chip on his shoulder.  He’ll have a mountain of chips when it comes to Ohio State.  The Buckeyes are seemingly favored over IU across the board despite losing to the Hoosiers in 2025, playing a more difficult schedule, and having to play in Bloomington on Oct. 17. The primary noise in ESPN’s FPI appears to be that it is still taking into account IU’s 2022 and 2023 seasons, which of course were very poor and have no relevance to the 2026 squad.  Sports books know this, of course, and completely eliminate those years from their projections.  Perhaps in this transfer portal era, ESPN should do the same.

Indiana Pacers Fall in Overtime to the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League  The Indiana Pacers continued their Las Vegas Summer League slate on Saturday as they took on the Philadelphia 76ers. Indiana fell in overtime, 100-93, after a hard-fought comeback in the second half. Coach Bryce Taylor went with the same starting five – Tamin Lipsey, Braden Smith, Taelon Peter, Jalen Slawson, and Rienk Mast. The Indiana offense was in a better rhythm early on Saturday as the Pacers notched 27 points in the first frame. Slawson continued to show his readiness with eight first quarter points, and Mast produced well throughout the first half. He entered the break with seven points, two rebounds, and two assists. Rebounding was tough for Indiana through the opening half. The Pacers grabbed just nine rebounds to Philadelphia’s 26 but cleaned up their turnovers from Friday. Indiana committed six turnovers that led to eight 76ers points before halftime.

Indiana faced a 14-point halftime deficit as it trailed Philadelphia, 59-45. The 76ers lead ballooned in the third quarter, and soon the Pacers found themselves down by a wide margin, 71-52. Indiana surged later in the third behind Yuki Kawamura’s instant offense. The Pacers created an 18-7 run that spanned the latter half of the third quarter and ended with Smith hitting a buzzer beater to bring Indiana back within 13 points of Philadelphia heading into the fourth, 80-67. Slawson cut the lead back to single digits by the five-minute mark of the fourth quarter after slamming down a fastbreak dunk. Indiana trailed, 86-78, but had plenty of time to make its move. The Pacers worked all the way back to down two with five seconds to play as Smith drove to the basket. Smith was fouled, and knocked down his two free throws to tie the game at 93.

Indiana was overpowered in the two-minute overtime period, and fell to the 76ers, 100-93. Slawson’s 26 points and five rebounds led the Pacers in scoring, but he was just one of three 20-point scorers in Saturday’s matchup. Johni Broome (23) and Labaron Philon Jr. (24) also eclipsed the 20-point mark for the 76ers. Smith posted 16 points, two rebounds, and five assists for the Pacers, while Mast came just short of a second double double. He recorded 10 points and nine rebounds. Kawamura notched 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists off the bench for Indiana. Indiana’s loss to Philadelphia is the Blue and Gold’s first loss in Summer League, and the Pacers will take a 1-1 record into Today’s matchup with the Toronto Raptors 4:30 PM Bloomington Time which is 1:30 PM Las Vegas Time. Indiana had five players reach double figure scoring totals – Slawson, Mast, Smith, Keion Brooks Jr., and Kawamura. After recording a double-double on Friday, Mast nearly notched another one with 10 points and nine rebounds on Saturday. The Pacers recorded 17 assists on 25 made field goals. Indiana was 0-for-4 in overtime.

Toledo Mud Hens Hold Off the Indianapolis Indians 4-3 at Victory Field Enmanuel Valdez hit his second home run in three days, and Khristian Curtis allowed no runs in relief, but the Indianapolis Indians lost, 4-3, to the Toledo Mud Hens at Victory Field on Saturday night. Wilber Dotel opened the game on the mound for Indianapolis, making his third major league rehab appearance since hitting the injured list on June 13. A sacrifice fly from Trei Cruz put the Mud Hens up 1-0 in the first inning, but Enmanuel Valdez quickly tied it up, 1-1, in the next frame with a sac fly of his own. A wild pitch by Toledo’s (10-7, 44-47) Dylan File plated Nick Cimillo in the second inning, and the Indians (10-7, 41-51) were up briefly, 2-1. But Brett Callahan’s two-RBI double in the next frame and a sac fly from Cal Stevenson flipped the contest again, 4-2. Valdez pulled Indianapolis within one, extending his team-leading home run count to 12 with a solo shot to center field in the bottom of the third. Valdez’s long ball was the last run of the game, as the Indians fell 4-3. Ricky Vanasco (W, 3-1) threw 1.2 scoreless frames and earned the win. Nick Sandlin (S, 2) allowed no runs in the eighth and ninth innings for the save. Justin Meis (L, 0-1) took his first loss of the season after giving up three runs in the third.

Yahoo Sports Launches College Fantasy Football Leagues Featuring Indiana, Purdue and Notre Dame  How about Texas quarterback Arch Manning paired with Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith on the same college football roster. While at it, add Michigan tailback Jordan Marshall, too. No transfer portal needed, either. Just some savvy drafting by a college fantasy football team owner. Yahoo Sports is expanding more into college fantasy football this season by launching leagues that feature players from Power Four conferences along with Notre Dame. So, fill that QB1 slot with Heisman Trophy favorites Manning or the Fighting Irish’s CJ Carr. Grab Marshall or LJ Martin of BYU to round out the RB spots. Pick up Smith or Cam Coleman of Texas at receiver.

These stars of the college game today could help you win a fantasy title later this fall. Down the road, maybe even help your NFL fantasy team. “This will be an interesting opportunity to really develop fandom not just of the sport, but also the players and the schools,” Ryan Spoon, president of Yahoo Media Group, said in an interview before Thursday’s launch of the leagues. “The content … is now available to make a really robust, awesome experience.” There have been sites with college fantasy football leagues before. This takes it even more mainstream in this era of name, image and likeness. Yahoo is coming off a season in which it set all-time highs for most fantasy football users and teams. “It’s understandable to all fans,” Spoon said, “not just the mega-college fan.”

A lot like NFL fantasy football, only not quite-The college fantasy format is similar to the NFL version. It starts with the draft, of course, and then head-to-head matchups (scoring begins Sept. 3). The 18-player rosters feature the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12 and ACC, along with Notre Dame. There’s another wrinkle, too, with an “offense” position in play. Go ahead and draft, say, Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin along with the Ohio State “offense.” That means bonus points for team TDs, total yards, field goals and a win, along with deductions for losses. It’s a way to spice things up. “We’ve run millions of permutations,” Spoon said of testing formats and game structure. “The variability is the awesome part of this.” Iowa State running back Aiden Flora knows whom he would pick in a college fantasy draft. “Might as well trust myself,” Flora said at Big 12 media days. “I feel like it’s a thing that a lot younger people would love to do, even though I feel like a lot of them (would) just try to get the guys that they are cheering for.” It’s also a way to keep up with players in this ever-changing college football landscape that includes the volatile transfer portal. Martin, the AP Big 12 offensive player of the year last season, rushed for 1,305 yards and 12 TDs. He figures to be a high selection. “I’m trying to go out there,” he said, “and get as many yards as I can every time.”

A word of caution-One thing Brody Ruihley, a professor of sport leadership and management at Miami University (Ohio), cautioned was to keep in mind these are college students, first and foremost. This is just fun and games. NFL players have reported being contacted by fantasy football owners through social media in all sorts of ways. “We need to remember that the college athlete is accessible in class, on campus, at poorly secured practices/games, and pretty much anywhere on a college campus. They are young adults still finding their way just like non-athlete college students,” Ruihley wrote in an email. “Protection is and should be a primary function for state agencies when collegiate fantasy sport or sports betting is in play.” Scrutiny has almost become part of the territory — no matter the level. “If somebody drops the game-winning catch, you’ve got to know they’re going to hear about,” Arizona State running back Kyson Brown explained. “We’ve been kind of going through the same things those guys have been going through.” Gambling in college football made headlines over the saga of former Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby. The Red Raiders had planned to let Sorsby play even after the Cincinnati transfer admitted he placed bets on Indiana games when he was a freshman with the Hoosiers. Sorsby ultimately abandoned a legal effort to regain his eligibility and is expected to enter next year’s NFL draft.

This is gameplay-Spoon stressed this was gameplay. “Obviously, there’s a subset of users, which is much larger today than it was five years ago, that is choosing through other operators to also place wagers or predictions, whatever those might be. That’s not us,” Spoon said. “Every passing year college (football) becomes bigger and more interesting and fandom increases.”
