The Bloomington North Cougars won a 41-40 thriller over the Bedford North Lawrence Stars Friday Night at BNL Stadium in Bedford. The Cougars are 1-1 on the season and Head Coach Andy Harding picks up win number one in his second game in charge of his alma mater.
Bedford North Lawrence led 20-14 at halftime and scored the first 14 points of the second half to lead 34-14 with 6:27 left in the third quarter. The Cougars outscored the Stars 27-6 in the last 18 minutes. The Stars led 40-34 with 8:19 left in the fourth quarter and the Cougars scored with 2:56 left on a touchdown pass and added the extra point to take the lead for the first time all night.
Bloomington North has won 8 in a row against the Stars and the last 18 out of 19 in the series that now stands at 22-8 in the last 40 years. The Cougars will host 0-2 Martinsville Next Friday Night at 7 PM in the Mid-State Conference Opener. Bedford North Lawrence is 1-1 on the season and will travel to 1-1 Jeffersonville in the Hoosier Hills Conference Opener.
Bloomington South is 2-0 after a 48-14 win over Martinsville as the Panthers have won two road games and will host Terre Haute North next Friday at 7:30 PM in the Home Opener. The Panthers have outscored their opponents 92-20 as Terre Haute North is 0-2 and been outscored 88-12 to Northview and Mooresville.
Duncan Combs completed 16 of his 23 passes along with a touchdown and 2 interceptions. The Panthers came into the game ranked number 2 in Class 5A and could be ranked number 1 after East Central knocked off New Palestine 14-6. The Panthers led start to finish after a 14-0 first quarter and 31-7 at halftime. Martinsville is 0-2 after losses to Bloomington South and Bedford North Lawrence the Artesians will travel down I-69 to face Bloomington North.
Edgewood got shutout at Beech Grove 36-0 as the Mustangs were shutout for the first since September 26, 2025 when the Hornets beat the Mustangs 12-0 on the red carpet in Ellettsville. The series is now tied at 2-2 with Beech Grove winning the last two meetings after Edgewood won back to back in 2007 and 2008.
Edgewood is 1-1 and will travel to South Putnam next Friday to face an Eagles Squad who is 2-0 and Outscored North Putnam and Greencastle by a combined score of 116-14. Beech Grove Is 2-0 and after two home games of outscoring their opponents 62-14 the Hornets hit the road to face 2-0 Shelbyville who outscored Greensburg and Rushville by a combined score of 90-14.
