Kick Time and Television Designation set for Indiana University Football’s Game at Michigan We have an official kickoff time for Indiana’s Oct. 24 trip to the Big House. As is the case each season, the Big Ten is rolling out kick times and television designations a couple weeks ahead of each game. Indiana’s week eight game at Michigan will kick at 12 p.m. ET and air to a national audience on FOX. This marks the third straight week IU is in this time slot on FOX. Indiana has not won a game in Ann Arbor since 1967. But this year looks like an opportunity to end that streak. 100,000-plus seat Michigan Stadium has not proven to be too daunting thus far in 2026. Michigan has opened the season 3-2 with its losses against Iowa at home and at Minnesota. The Wolverines also won a controversial season opener at home against Western Michigan. They are currently unranked and not receiving votes.
Indiana Hoosiers Field Hockey Blanks Ohio to Maintain an Undefeated Home Record No. 12 Indiana Field Hockey continues to be undefeated at home with a 5-0 win over Ohio on Sunday afternoon at Deborah Tobias Field in Bloomington, Ind. The overall record for the Hoosiers improves to 9-3 and stays at 4-0 in the B1G. Per usual, Indiana’s offense got hot early with second-year forward/ midfielder Molly Stutte notching the early goal in the first quarter, putting the home team up 1-0 in the second minute. It was back-and-forth between both teams as play continued in the first half of the game. While Ohio couldn’t profit off a pair of penalty corners in the second, fourth-year forward/midfielder Theresa Ricci knocked one straight in with two seconds to go, making it a 2-0 game going into the break. She was helped by third-year forward Charlotte Glasper.
Starting the third with six shots on goal to the Bobcats’ one, IU was awarded a penalty corner that ended in a blocked shot for Stutte. As play continued, second-year forward Celia Arroyo Cabezudo recorded her first strike of the day in the 39th minute when she sent one straight into the back of the cage. Ohio saw no shots in the third period as the Hoosier defense maintained the ball in Bobcat territory. The offense continued to be hot going into the final quarter. Arroyo-Cabezudo did it again for the Hoosiers with an up-close shot on the right side, making it 4-0 IU. Third-year goalkeeper Sadie Canelli worked hard to maintain the shutout in the fourth, making three saves and preventing Ohio from adding to the board. The Hoosiers weren’t done yet, as Glasper ran up to the circle to hit the final strike for Indiana, making the final score a 5-0 shutout.
Stutte’s goal marked eight on the season, improving on her previous career-best of seven in 2025. With the two goals from Arroyo Cabezudo, the two players are now tied for most goals scored on the team this year with eight. The shutout score is IU’s fifth of the season and third in the last four games. With four more matches to go in the regular season, Indiana’s nine wins match the total wins overall from the 2025 season where it went 9-9. The last time Indiana saw a ten-win season or better was 2021 where it went 10-10 overall and 2-6 in the B1G. In the second quarter, IU attempted a total of eight shots to Ohio’s one.
Inés Garcia Prado assisted on both of Arroyo-Cabezudo’s goals, making six total assists for her on the season. IU continues its home slate with a ranked B1G matchup, facing off with No. 1 Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. at Deborah Tobias Field.
Indiana Hoosiers Women’s Soccer Draws with the USC Trojans In Los Angeles Indiana women’s soccer ends their six-game losing streak to close their west coast trip with a 2-2 draw against USC on Sunday night. After giving up two first half goals, the Hoosiers responded late and found two goals of their own to end their conference losing streak. With the draw, the Hoosiers hold a 4-8-2 record overall and 1-6-1 in conference play. The Trojans found the net early in the match after Jaiden Rodriguez played the ball up the field to Rhea Moore for the first goal of the match in the first minute of play to make it 1-0 USC. Jordan Hill scored her first goal of the season as Rihannon Mahon was credited with an assist in the 38th minute as the Trojans led 2-0. In the 48th Minute Kennedy Neighbors moved up the field playing the ball into the box for Grace Hamm who would score her first goal of the season, putting the Hoosiers on the board as the Hoosiers trailed 2-1. Indiana would tie the game in the 70th minute when the Hoosiers set their offense for their fifth corner kick opportunity of the match. Neighbors played the ball short to Piper Coffield who found Amaya Falzarano in the box to tie the game late.
Indiana University Volleyball Hoosiers Fall in Sunday Matinee The Indiana volleyball team (10-5, 3-3 B1G) suffered its second-straight home defeat in a three-set loss (24-26, 19-25, 22-25) to USC (8-8, 2-4 B1G) on Sunday afternoon at Wilkinson Hall. It’s the first time that IU has lost consecutive home games in almost two years. Led by a brilliant day out of the middle, USC found its offensive footing and snapped a four-match losing streak in conference action. Middle blockers Leah Ford and Mia Tvrdy had 18 kills and just one attacking error. Opposite hitter Abigail Mullen led the way with 11 kills.
IU had eight blocks, led by five from fifth-year opposite hitter Avry Tatum, but couldn’t stop the visitors in critical moments. USC won the offensive battle (.277-.206) as setter Milly McGee dished out 31 assists. Second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager had 11 kills for the Hoosiers but hit just .121. IU’s .206 team hitting percentage was its lowest in over a month. Third-year outside hitter Izzy Clark made her season debut as IU searched for a lineup that would provide a spark. She tallied her first kill of the year on her only swing after missing the first 14 matches through injury. Tatum had seven kills while fifth-year middle blocker Kiki Granberry added six. 12 of IU’s 17 active players appeared in the contest. Head coach Steve Aird’s group will head west next weekend to take on top-25 foes Oregon (Oct. 16) and Washington (Oct. 18) as it looks to snap a string of back-to-back losses. Both contests will take place on B1G+. It’s the beginning of a three-match road trip that also sends the team to Ohio State (Oct. 23). The next contest at Wilkinson Hall is set for Sunday, October 25th against Penn State.
The end of the first set seemed to flip the momentum for the entire match. IU had two set points in game one but USC closed the frame on a 4-0 run. The Hoosiers never had a grasp of set two and saw set three get away from them late as the visitors closed out the match. USC showed up to Bloomington and left with a major advantage in every category. The Trojans spent most of the match in system, allowing them to run their middles with ease. USC had more kills (42-40), blocks (10.0-8.0) and a better hitting percentage (.277-.206) on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s defeat was the first home loss to an unranked opponent since a November setback to Minnesota during the 2023 campaign. It snapped a run of 27-straight home victories against teams outside the top 25 and is the first time IU has lost consecutive games at Wilkinson Hall since November of 2024. Second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager fought her way to reach 11 kills in the three-set loss. She has now reached double-figure kills in 18 of her 26 career Big Ten contests. Jager is now 14 kills away from reaching 600 for her collegiate career.
Indiana’s Chase Briscoe beats teammate Bell in photo finish for 2nd straight Chase win in Charlotte Chase Briscoe is getting the hang of winning close races. Briscoe held off Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell to win his second straight NASCAR Chase race in a photo finish on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, vaulting him into contention to earn his first Cup Series championship. The two drivers traded paint on the final lap, but Briscoe maintained control of his No. 19 Toyota and reached the finish line about a half-car length ahead of Bell. “I don’t know what it is about these finishes. I have to quit making it so exciting at the end,” said Briscoe, who had to hold off playoff points leader Kyle Larson to win last week at Las Vegas. It was the eighth win of Briscoe’s career and third this season. He led 62 laps.
Briscoe said he felt like his right front tire was going down on the final laps, but was able to hold it together. “When I got beyond those final lapped cars with five or six (laps) to go, I felt like I was going to knock the wall down,” Briscoe said. “At one point it just quit turning.” Ryan Blaney finished third, followed by Josh Berry, Denny Hamlin and Larson. Briscoe was 123 points behind Larson prior to last week’s win, but the back-to-back victories have cut the deficit to 65 points and put him in fourth place with four races left. Gibbs said he was just happy his drivers didn’t wreck each other. “That’s always when I’m the most nervous, when a couple of our guys are running up front,” Gibbs said. “I know how badly all of our guys want to win. … That’s when my blood pressure and heartbeat gets accelerated.” Hamlin is now 49 points behind Larson in the Chase, followed by Bell, who is 51 points back. Larson called it a “good, solid day” and was happy to extend his playoff lead by nine points.
Indianapolis Colts have no answer for Jaylen Warren in 34-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Jaylen Warren piled up 188 total yards and two long touchdowns — one rushing and one receiving — to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers past the Indianapolis Colts 34-22 on Sunday. The Steelers (3-2) shook off a loss at Cleveland by relying on Warren and a defense that frequently bent but rarely broke. Warren caught six passes for 87 yards, including an 80-yard catch-and-run score in the first quarter, and added 101 more on the ground, highlighted by a 50-yard sprint to the end zone in the third quarter in which the typically low-key former undrafted free agent hurdled across the goal line in celebration.
Aaron Rodgers completed 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and three scores. While Warren did most of the work on their 80-yard connection that gave Pittsburgh’s offense an early jolt, the 42-year-old Rodgers paid the price by absorbing a crushing hit from 314-pound Colts defensive tackle Grover Stewart as he flicked the ball to the do-everything running back. Pat Freiermuth caught five passes for 44 yards and two touchdowns for Pittsburgh, the second a 17-yard toss from Rodgers with 6:40 remaining that gave the Steelers enough cushion to beat the Colts for the 10th time in 12 meetings.
Daniel Jones threw for 267 yards for Indianapolis (2-3) and avoided the turnovers that have plagued him whenever he’s faced the Steelers, but the Colts also had drives consistently stall in Pittsburgh territory. Spencer Shrader had five field goals for Indianapolis, including three in the second half from 40 yards and in. Tyler Warren finished with seven receptions for 83 yards and the second rushing touchdown of his career. Jonathan Taylor had 82 total yards for the Colts, who were coming off an impressive victory over Washington in London but have not won at Pittsburgh since 2008.
First-year coach Mike McCarthy’s Steelers bounced back from a shaky performance with a solid one for the second time in a month. Pittsburgh never trailed after Warren turned a flip from Rodgers into the ninth touchdown pass of 80 yards or more of the quarterback’s career, tying former Steelers cornerstone Ben Roethlisberger for the most in NFL history. Three times, the Colts pulled within a point, and Pittsburgh responded each time behind Warren, who made the team in 2022 as an unheralded rookie and has evolved into one of the better feature backs in the league. Thrust into a more high-profile role while backfield mate Rico Dowdle recovers from a toe injury, Warren has prevented the Steelers from relying too heavily on Rodgers, the NFL’s oldest active player, who is playing his 22nd and final season.
Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver/special teams ace Ben Skowronek left in the second quarter with a calf injury. … WR Roman Wilson exited in the second quarter after injuring a hand while trying to make a catch. … LB T.J. Watt was treated for a facial injury in the second quarter after getting gouged by Indianapolis RT Jalen Travis. The Indianapolis Colts Host AFC South rival Tennessee next Sunday while the Pittsburgh Steelers Visit Tampa Bay next Sunday.
Taylor University Women’s Soccer Sweeps Crossroads League Awards The No. 10 Taylor women’s soccer team swept the Crossroads League’s awards for the week of Oct. 5-11, as junior goalkeeper Ava Callaway was named Defensive Player of the Week and senior forward Eliza Luttrell earned Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is the first time TU women’s soccer has swept the league’s weekly awards since Oct. 26, 2020, when current assistant coach Morgan Gerig and Hannah Dempsey earned the honors in the same week.
Callaway, who also took the defensive award earlier this season, is now a two-time honoree this fall. Luttrell’s selection is the third of her career and her first of the 2026 season. Both played key roles in the highest-ranked win in program history, a 2-1 victory at No. 7 Marian on Saturday night that handed the Knights their first loss of the season. The result ended MU’s 31-match home unbeaten streak and its 19-match unbeaten run in league play. Callaway collected a career-high 10 saves, including seven stops by halftime, and then held firm as the Knights fired nine shots in the opening minutes of the second half. Her final save came in the 88th minute, turning away MU’s leading scorer Olivia Parmer to preserve the lead. The Knights’ lone goal came on a 72nd-minute own goal after a mishandled clearance by the TU defense
Luttrell tallied three points in the contest and had a hand in both Trojan goals. Her corner kick in the 23rd minute found Leilani Bisera at the far side of the box for the opening header, and she converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute for her first goal of the season and what proved to be the game-winner. It was the sixth career match in which she recorded at least one goal and one assist, and her first this season. The sweep gives the TU women’s soccer team four weekly honors this fall, following senior forward Leah McQuade’s Offensive Player of the Week nod and Callaway’s first defensive award. TU Athletics has now collected 22 Crossroads League and MSFA Mideast League Player of the Week honors this fall, along with one NAIA National Player of the Week award. The Trojans (8-2-3, 2-1-2 CL) close out the road portion of their regular season this week at Saint Francis on Wednesday (7 p.m.) and Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday (3 p.m.)
