Indiana Men’s Basketball Rolls Over Northern Illinois 85-49
Indiana Men’s Basketball bounced back after a 6-point win Tuesday night against Eastern Michigan to beat Northern Illinois 85-49 Friday Night in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. “It was a total team effort,” Indiana Head Coach Mike Woodson said in his post-game press conference “Everybody did what we asked them to do, which was nice to see.” The Hoosiers led by double digits at halftime Tuesday night but Eastern Michigan got back in the game in the 2nd half. The Hoosiers led 47-20 at half and never let up outscoring the Huskies 38-29 in the 2nd half. “We played 28 minutes the other night. Tonight, we sustained it all the way through” Coach Woodson said.

Trayce Jackson-Davis led the way with had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 blocks to lead the Hoosiers. Jackson-Davis recorded the fourth most blocks in Indiana History behind Steve Downing’s 10 in 1971 and Dean Garrett’s 8 in 1986 and 1988. Xavier Johnson added 13 points for his 2nd straight game in double figures. Race Thompson scored 12 points and added 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Khristian Lander and Anthony Leal each scored 7 points in their first game of the season after not playing Tuesday Night, South Florida transfer Michael Durr played 10 minutes and scored 2 points in his Hoosier debut. Freshman Logan Duncomb made his first appearance as Hoosier as Duncomb played 4 minutes had 1 rebound and had 2 assists.

Indiana was 23-30 at the free throw line for 76 percent. The Hoosiers were 8-23 from three-point range which needs to improve throughout the season after a 4-24 performance against Eastern Michigan takes them to 12-47 from beyond the arc through 2 games. The Hoosiers had 9 Blocks, 6 Steals, 38 points off the bench and14 assists.

Northern Illinois led twice early in the first half struggled throughout the game with going 14-46 from the field for 30 percent, 2-11 from three-point range for 18.2 percent. The Huskies committed 23 turnovers, 3 assists, 1 block and 10 steals. Coming off an upset victory on the road at the University of Washington Tuesday Night. Northern Illinois hit 12 three pointers in the game but Indiana frustrated the Huskies holding them scoreless for nearly eight minutes and the first basket came on a Hoosier goaltend. “We were solid right from the start,” Woodson said. “We kept them in front of us. We did it for 40 minutes” Coach Woodson said.

After Trayce Jackson Davis got his 6th block of the game. Northern Illinois Zool Kueth was frustrated and shoved Jackson-Davis in the back and was ejected from the game. Northern Illinois was led in scoring by Keshwan Williams with 21 points. Anthony Crump who had a double -double against Washington was held to 6 points and 4 rebounds. Trendon Hankerson who hit 6 three pointers and scored 28 points Tuesday Night was held to 3 points on 1-8 from the field and 1-4 from 3-point range. Northern Illinois falls to 1-1 on the season.

Indiana is 2-0 on the season and welcomes in 2-0 St John’s Wednesday Night at 9pm as part of the Gavitt Games which matches up Big East Teams against the Big Ten. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.

8th Ranked Indiana Women’s Basketball Beats 13th Ranked Kentucky 88-67
The 8th Ranked Indiana Women’s Basketball team beat 13th ranked Kentucky 88-67 before a 5,394 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall Sunday Evening and National TV Audience on ESPN. The Hoosiers are 2-0 while Kentucky falls to 2-1.

Mackenzie Holmes scored the teams first 11 points and finished the game with a career high 29. Grace Berger scored 19 including a three to beat the halftime buzzer to give the Hoosiers a 38-32 lead at halftime. Ali Patberg added 18 along with 12 points from Nicole Cardano-Hillary. Indiana went 18-21 from the foul line and had 18 assists. Indiana outscored the Wildcats 50-35 in the second half and shot 54 percent from the field.

Kentucky was led by All American Rhyne Howard with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Jada Walker scored 16 points off the bench and Robyn Benton added 11. Kentucky shot 41 percent from the field, 30 percent from the three-point line and 9-15 from the foul line for 60 percent.

Indiana Head Coach Teri Moren gets her 150th career win at IU and the all-time series with Kentucky is tied up at 13 apiece. Indiana also welcomed back several Women’s Basketball Alumni as the program celebrates its 50th year of Women’s Basketball with at least one player from each decade that was in attendance this evening. Indiana will host Norfolk State Tuesday Night at 7pm.  

Rutgers Embarrasses Indiana Football 38-3
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights routed the Indiana Hoosiers 38-3 on a very cold 39-degree Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in which there was group of students that decided to take their shirts off so they could get on TV and they accomplished just that. The Hoosiers had six turnovers with 3 fumbles, 2 interceptions and turnover on downs. The Hoosiers fall to 2-8 and 0-6 in the Big 10 and have lost 6th straight games since 33-31 win at Western Kentucky on September 25th.  Rutgers beats Indiana for the first time since a 55-52 thriller in Bloomington October 17, 2015 snapping a five-game losing streak against Indiana.

True Freshman Donaven McCulley got his 3rd start for the Hoosiers and fumbled on the first offensive play and gave the ball to Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights scored with 8-yard run from Isaih Pacheco to make 7-0 with 13:47 left in the first quarter. McCulley played on the 2nd drive and then was benched after 1-3 passing for 11 yards and 3 carries for 4 yards. Jack Tuttle who missed the last two game with a leg injury came in and was 5-10 for 26 yards passing with 2 interceptions and had 13 yards on 3 carries. Tuttle came off limping after his 2nd interception and did not return to the game. McCulley came back and finished the game with 7-20 for 98 yards passing and had 10 carries for 7 yards. Ty Fyrfogle had 5 receptions for 51 yards receiving but fumbled a punt return early in the third quarter that gave Rutgers the ball at the Indiana 10-yard line and Aaron Brown scored on the next play with a 10-yard touchdown run to make it 24-3 12;27 to go in the 3rd quarter. Grant Gremel came on and finished at quarterback for the Hoosiers going 5-11 for 41 yards. Indiana had 7 different ball carriers the ball 32 times for 82 yards with walk on Charlie Spegal leading the way with 14 yards on five carries. The Hoosier quarterbacks were a combined 18-42 for 177 yards passing.

Rutgers improves 5-5 and 2-6 in the Big Ten and will travel to Penn State Saturday and host Maryland November 27th. The Scarlet Knights Isaih Pacheco scored his second touchdown 6:34 to go in the first quarter on a 4-yard run Pacheco carried the ball 21 times for 79 yards Rutgers 9 different players carry the ball 50 times for 218 yards and 5 touchdowns and no offensive turnovers. The Scarlet Knights added 38-yard field goal from Valentino Ambrosio with 14:10 to go in the 2nd half to make it 17-0. Raiqwon O”Neal who is an offensive lineman checked in as eligible receiver and scored on a 7 yard rush after the ball was thrown backwards pass from Noah Vedral. Vedral scored on a 9-yard touchdown run with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter to make 38-3. Vedral was 9-17 passing for 97 yards, Johnny Langan was 1-1 for 5 yards and Kyle Monangai was 0-1 as the Scarlet Knights were 10-19 passing for 102 yards.

Peyton Hendershot had 2 receptions for 11 yards and stays at 14 career receiving touchdown one behind Ted Bosler’s record for a tight end with 15. Linebacker Micah McFadden ended a 14-game streak with at least one tackle for loss. McFadden had 6 solo tackles and 7 for the game.

Indiana will host Minnesota in the final home game next Saturday at 3:30 on the Big Ten Network before Traveling to Purdue for the Old Oaken Bucket Game on November 27th. The Golden Gophers lost at Iowa 27-22 Saturday Afternoon and are 6-4 and 4-3 in the Big Ten.

Bloomington South Falls in Regional Football Championship Game to New Albany 
The Bloomington South Panthers 2021 Football season is over after losing to the New Albany Bulldogs 33-14 in the Class 5A Regional Football Championship game in New Albany Friday Night. The Panthers finish the season at 8-3 and finished with 193 yards off total offense with Gavin Adams pacing the Panther offense with 101 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns on 26 carries but the Panthers committed 3 turnovers.

New Albany controlled the running game with 221 yards total and Myles Johnson had 63 rushing yards at halftime controlled the 2nd half and finished with 180 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. The Bulldogs held the Panthers to just 38 yards in the 2nd half and 13 of those yards came on the final play of the game.  New Albany had 81 passing yards for 302 yards of total offense.

New Albany wins its first ever regional title and improves 9-3 on the season and will travel to Indianapolis Cathedral for the Semi State next Friday Night. The Irish beat New Palestine 23-7 and are 11-1 and one of most storied programs in Indiana High School Football history with 13 State Championships looking to repeat as Class 5A Champions after winning it all a season ago.

In Class 3A Tri-West Beat Owen Valley 28-7 in Spencer Friday Night. The Patriots were playing in just their second ever Regional Championship game Friday night and the first since 1992. Tri West wins its 10th Regional title and first since 2014.  Tri West will host 12-1 Gibson Southern Saturday at 5pm in the Semi State.
