Indiana Men’s Basketball Hosts Jackson State
Less than 48 hours after Indiana Men’s Basketball dominated Louisiana with a 32-point victory the Hoosiers are back in action tonight when they host the Jackson State Tigers at 7pm in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall and game will be seen on the Big Ten Network.  The Hoosiers dominated the game start to finish shooting over 50 percent from the field and beyond the arc along with 77 percent from the foul line. Indiana is coming off one of the best defensive efforts in a long-time holding Louisiana to 44 points on 19 percent shooting from the field and 10 percent shooting from three-point line along with 58 percent shooting from the foul line. Indiana did commit 27 turnovers in the game and Louisiana had 10 steals which was one of the few bright spots for Louisiana in the game.

Trayce Jackson-Davis is averaging 17.3 points per game with Race Thompson averaging 10 points per game. The Hoosiers are with out Rob Phinesee who suffered a lower leg injury against St John’s last Wednesday, Logan Duncomb who is serving the second of the three-game suspension due to a violation of team rules and Trey Galloway who is recovering from surgery from a broken wrist that he suffered in first half of the St John’s game.  Indiana is averaging 76 points per game through four games.

Jackson State is 0-4 on the season after Sunday’s 80-66 loss at Marshall. The Tigers have played all four games on the road with Illinois 71-47, Louisiana Tech 70-68 and California Baptist 77-64. The Tigers are playing the first 12 games of the season on the road. Jackson State will play at home for the first time on December 29th. Jackson State has three players in double figures Jayveous Mckinnis leads the team 12.8 points, Gabe Watson 12.5 points and Chance Moore at 10 points per game.

Jonathan Taylor Scores Five Touchdowns as Indianapolis Colts Rout Buffalo Bills
Jonathan Taylor scored five touchdowns Sunday afternoon as the Indianapolis Colts routed the Buffalo Bills 41-15 on the road. Taylor had 32 carries for 185 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns while catching 3 passes for 19 yards and a touchdown. Taylor became the first player since Alvin Kamara to score five touchdowns in one game. Kamara had 6 touchdowns on Christmas Day 2020 against Minnesota Vikings.

Taylor leads the league in rushing yards and touchdowns. Carson Wentz was 11-20 passing for 106 yards and 1 touchdown pass. The Colts scored on 2 field goals by Michael Badgley and the Defense picked off the Bills Quarterbacks three times in the game. The Colts Led 24-7 at half and outscored the Bills 17-8 in the 2nd half.

Josh Allen was 21-35 for 209 yards passing with 2 touchdown passes to Stefon Diggs and threw 2 interceptions.  Mitchell Turbisky was 3-5 passing for 19 yards with one interception. The Buffalo Bills are 6-4 on the season and 3-2 at home. The Indianapolis Colts are 6-5 and 3-2 on the road and host the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 1pm. 

Edgewood Girls Basketball Returns from COVID Pause to beat White River Valley
Edgewood Girls Basketball returned from an 8-day COVID pause to beat White River Valley 50-40 Monday Night at the Mustang Corral in Ellettsville. Edgewood is 6-0 on the season and will host Bloomfield in make game next Tuesday Night at 7pm in varsity only game.  

Carly Sherfield had 23 points going 9-14 from the field. Sherfield had 12 points in the first half when the Mustangs led 24-14 at the break. Edgewood was 11-13 at free throw line while White River Valley did not attempt a free throw for the game. The Wolverines fall to 0-6 on the season and were lead in scoring by Maycee Antibus with 17 points with 15 of those points coming on five three pointers.

Indiana’s Arjun Jha Competes at NCAA Cross Country Championships
The cross-country season came to close on Saturday afternoon with the NCAA Cross Country National Championships in Tallahassee Florida. Indiana Cross Country’s Arjun Jha crossed the finish line a time of 30:55.1 to place 176th.
 
NC State hoisted the women’s trophy with 84 points and Northern Arizona won the men’s team titles with 92 points.
 
Whittni Orton and Conner Mantz of BYU went on to win the individual national championships. 

The Hoosiers will now turn to the indoor track & field season. They kick off the season at by hosting the Hoosier Open on Friday, December 10th.
