Indiana Men’s Basketball Cruises to Win Over Jackson State
Indiana Men’s Basketball is 5-0 after cruising to a 70-35 win over Jackson State at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall Tuesday Night. It was the first time since 2009 that Indiana has held the opponent to the lowest shooting percentage.  Indiana held Jackson State to 12-58 from the field for 20 percent, 3-19 from 3-point range for 15 percent and 8-11 from the foul line for 72.7 percent. Gabe Brown led the Tigers with 14 points off the bench. Jackson State pulled down 33 rebounds including 10 from Jayveous McKinnis. The Tigers had 7 assists, 5 steals, 4 blocks and 11 turnovers. This was the first ever meeting between the two teams and Indiana is 8-0 all time against the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jackson State falls to 0-5 on the season and 0-2 against the Big Ten losing the season opener at Illinois November 9th.

Xavier Johnson led the Hoosiers in scoring with 14 Points, Miller Kopp scored 12 and Trayce Jackson-Davis added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. All 10 scholarship players that were available all scored. Rob Phinesse, Trey Galloway and Logan Duncomb all were unavailable. The Hoosiers were 25-51 from the field for 47.1 percent, 6-15 from three-point range for 40 percent, and 16 -26 from the field 61 percent. Indiana had 44 rebounds, 15 assists, 8 blocks and 5 steals.

Indiana had 11 turnovers for the game which was 16 less than they had Sunday Night against Louisiana. Coach Mike Woodson becomes the Hoosier Coach Since Branch McCracken to go 5-0 in his first season as the Hoosiers Head Coach. Indiana led 34-17 at half and outscored Jackson State 36-18 in the second half.  The Hoosiers have held their opponent to under 50 points three times this season.

Indiana will be back in action Saturday when they host the Marshall Thundering Herd at 7pm inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Marshall is 4-1 and beat Louisiana 93-79 Tuesday Night.

Bloomington South Boys Basketball Beats Edgewood 58-42
The 2021-22 High School Boys Basketball Season kicked off Tuesday Night as Bloomington South beat Edgewood 58-42 at Bloomington South. The Panthers were led in scoring by Noah Ransom with 13 point, Cameron Oliphant added 11 points. Bloomington South was 19-37 from the field and 9-17 on 3 pointers. The Panthers Host New Albany Saturday Night at 7:30 PM. Edgewood was led in scoring by Caden Huttenlocker with 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds, Xzander Hammonds and Zach Sims had 8 points apiece. Edgewood was 12-40 from the field, 2-11 from three-point range and 16-20 at the free throw line. Edgewood will travel to Martinsville Saturday at 7:30pm.

The Other Boys Basketball game of the night Bloomington North Beat Bedford North Lawrence 66-47 at Bloomington North. The Cougars are off until December 4th when they travel to Center Grove. The Stars will host Bloomington South on December 3rd.

Bloomington North Girls Basketball beat New Albany 64-61 as the Cougars improve to 4-3 on the season and will host Columbus East next Tuesday at 7:30pm. New Albany falls to 4-4 and will host North Harrison on December 2nd.

Lighthouse Christian Girls Basketball beat Madison Christian 59-18 on the road. The Lady Lions are 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Roads Conference. Lighthouse was led by Abagail Rousey with 26 points and 8 rebounds, Zoe Crites 11 Points and Mardi Grossman had 8 points and had double digit assists.  

Indiana Women’s Basketball Faces Stanford on Thanksgiving Day
Indiana Women’s Basketball will play defending National Champion Stanford at 1:30pm Thanksgiving Day in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Classic at the Baha Mar Resort in Nassau the Bahamas.  Indiana is 5-0 and ranked 4th in the AP Poll and 6th in the Coaches Poll. Indiana moved up one spot in the coaches’ poll after being ranked 7th last week.

Stanford is 3-1 on the season with wins over Morgan State 91-36, Portland 77-55 and a road win at Gonzaga 66-62. The Cardinal lost at home to Texas 61-56 on November 14th. Stanford is ranked 7th in the AP Poll and 5th in the Coaches Poll this week. The Cardinal are led in scoring by Haley Jones at 13.7 points per game, Cameron Brink 12.5 and Lexie Hull at 11.3 points and all three were starters last season on the National Championship Team.

Stanford Is coached by Hall of Famer and 1975 Indiana University Graduate Tara VanDerveer. She was three-year starter at Indiana from 1972-1975 and was inducted into the Indiana University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995.  In Her 43rd season as coach she has career record of 1,228-256 and won 3 NCAA Championships in 1990,1992 and 2021. She Coached at Idaho from 1978-80 and Ohio State from 1981-1985 and has been at Stanford since 1985.

Indiana is coming off 67-59 win at Quinnipiac Saturday Afternoon. The Hoosiers are 4-0 for the fourth time since Teri Moren’s took over the Program at Indiana in 2014. Grace Berger led the way with 17 Points, Ali Patberg had 12, Mackenzie Holmes and Nicole Cardano-Hillary added 10 apiece. Those four along with Aleska Gulbe averaged double figures going into last Saturday’s game.

This will be the 3rd all time meeting between the two teams with Indiana beating Stanford December 21, 1979, 73-63 in Chapel Hill North Carolina. Stanford beat Indiana 87-72 November 16, 2001 in Palo Alto California which is the Home of Stanford University.  

Indiana Volleyball Closes Out the Season on The Road
Indiana Volleyball will end the 2021 season this weekend when they travel to instate rival Purdue Friday Night at 6 PM and Wisconsin Saturday Night at 8 PM. The Hoosiers 10-20 on the season and 4-14 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers are coming off a 3-0 win in home finale last Sunday afternoon against the Iowa Hawkeyes to close out Wilkinson Hall with 4-9 home record. The Hoosiers are 2-9 on the road this season and 4-2 at Neutral Site.  

Indiana Honored its three seniors on Sunday. Kari Zumach 6-3 Outside Hitter from Buffalo Minnesota, Brooke Westbeld 6-2 Setter from Kettering Ohio and Breanna Edwards 6-3 Outside Hitter from Rainer Oregon. All three have been starters this season for the Hoosiers. Edwards leads the team in kills with 352, Westbeld leads the team in assists with 511 and Zumach has 39 blocks.

Purdue beat Indiana 3-0 on September 26th in Bloomington. Purdue leads the all-time series 73-34 and The Hoosiers are looking to beat the Boilermakers for the first time since 2012. Purdue is ranked 6th in the country 22-5 record and 14-4 in the Big Ten.

Wisconsin is ranked 5th in the nation with a 23-3 record and15-3 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers and the Badgers will be meeting for first time this season. Wisconsin leads the all-time series 54-24 and Indiana as not won against the Badgers since 2012 when they won in Madison 3-1.
