Indiana-Wright State Women’s Basketball Game Canceled
Tuesday Night’s Women’s Basketball game between Indiana and Wright State at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall was canceled due to COVID-19 implications resulting from positive cases within Wright State’s tier one individuals. The game will not be made up between the two programs. Indiana leads the all-time series 5-0 and this would have been the first meeting since November 24, 2006. Indiana is 9-2 and Wright State 1-7 on the season. Wright State had been on a three-week COVID pause and played its first and only game against Lake Erie December 15 since that pause.
The #8 Hoosiers will close out non-conference play on Thursday, December 23rd at 1pm against Southern Illinois University.
Indiana Men’s Basketball Host Northern Kentucky
Indiana Men’s Basketball Host Northern Kentucky at 7pm inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall which will be the final game for the Hoosiers before the Christmas holiday. Indiana is 9-2 and coming off a 64-59 in the Crossroads Classic in Indianapolis against Norte Dame. Head Coach Mike Woodson was not happy with fans after they ‘boo-ed’ point guard Xavier Johnson for his play during the game. “That irritates me. I just want to send a shout out to all of our Hoosier Nation fans man, because again we’ve got to ride this journey together. Xavier catches a lot of hell from me as a coach, and none of our players need that.” Woodson said on his weekly Monday night Radio Show.
Woodson is in his first year as head coach at his alma mater and his head coach Bob Knight did not tolerate fans being out of line and took the microphone a few times to let him know his thoughts when they threw things on the floor or chanted negative sayings towards a player. “Listen, we’re one big family, Hoosier Nation has always been a family, and will always be. I can’t tell you how to come to the game and react, but booing is not the way to go for me. Let’s be positive. This team hasn’t been together that long. We’ve had 14 games together as a group, three as exhibition games that don’t count,” Woodson said.
Assembly Hall has always been a tough place to play and an amazing atmosphere for College Basketball but Woodson wants the fans to keep it positive and root on the team to a victory. “I just need them to support what we do, support our players, keep them pumped up man, let me give them hell,” he said. “That’s where it should come from, not our fans.”
