Indiana Women’s Basketball Falls to Iowa in Big Ten Championship Final
Indiana Women’s Basketball falls to Iowa 74-67 in the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Sunday evening. The Hoosiers 22-8 will wait to find out their NCAA Tournament fate Sunday night at 8pm on ESPN. The Hoosiers are a presumed number 3 seed in the NCAA tournament and are expected to host the first and second rounds of the tournament. Grace Berger led the way with 20 points while Nicole Cardano-Hillary added 19 points, and they were both named to the All-Tournament Team. Mackenize Holmes and Aleska Gulbe scored 11 points each. The Hoosiers shot 37% from the field, 4-19 from beyond the arc, and 11-13 from the foul line. This was the Hoosiers first Big Ten Championship appearance since winning it all in 2002. Monika Czinano led Iowa 30 Points and 10 Rebounds and was named Tournament MVP. Cailtin Clark added 18 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Kate Martin added 14 points. Its Iowa 4th Big Ten Tournament Title with winning it all in 1999, 2001, 2019.
Indiana Men’s Basketball loses Purdue in regular season finale
Indiana Men’s Basketball lost to Purdue 69-67 in Mackey Arena in the regular season finale Saturday Afternoon. The Hoosiers end the regular season at 18-12 and are on the bubble for NCAA Tournament. The Hoosiers are nine seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will play eight seed Michigan at 11:30am on Thursday. Xavier Johnson led Indiana in scoring 18 Points, Trayce Jackson-Davis 15 scored points and Miller Kopp added 14 points. The Hoosiers shot 43% from the field, 5-20 from three-point range for 25%, and a perfect 10-10 from free throw line. Purdue ends the regular season at 25-6. The Boilermakers were led by Eric Hunter Jr with 17 points, Sasha Stefanovic added 15 points. Zach Edey added 10 points and 11 rebounds along with 10 points from Jaden Ivey. Purdue shot 39% from the field, 9-24 for 37% from three-point range, and 14-21 from free throw line for 66%.
Bloomington North Wins Boys Basketball Sectional
The Bloomington North Cougars beat the Bloomington South Panthers 32-28 in overtime in the Class 4A sectional championship game at Martinsville High School Saturday Night. The Cougars are 22-3 and win their first sectional title since 2014 and 17th overall. Bloomington North 22-3 will play Evansville North at 10 am Saturday in the first game of the Seymour Regional Saturday Morning. Floyd Central 20-4 and will play Franklin 11-14 in the second game with the Championship Game at 8pm Saturday night. Bloomington South ends season at 19-8.
