Violence erupts in Downtown Bloomington during Little 500 weekend
4 were shot in what Bloomington Police believe to be 2 separate incidents of gun violence moments after each other early Saturday morning. Kalao Nightclub was the scene of a disturbance that led to an unidentified man shooting several shots into the venue around 1am. When emergency services arrived, they found 3 victims in the street who had been hit, including 1 who was released from the hospital and 2 who are believed to still be in stable condition.
While searching for suspects, the Police found a man in a truck near 6th and Lincoln Streets with a gunshot to his abdomen. As of Saturday evening, the 26 year-old unnamed man was listed in critical condition at IU Bloomington Hospital.

Attorney General Todd Rokita protects Hoosier consumers who utilized GoFundMe platform
To protect Hoosiers who donate on the GoFundMe platform, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita today identified potential consumer protection concerns with the conduct of GoFundMe’s platform. GoFundMe’s terms of service are ambiguous, raise accountability concerns, and have the potential to deceive consumers.
“Hoosiers are generous,” Attorney General Rokita said. “And when they give money to a cause, it’s only logical to assume the money actually goes where it was directed. GoFundMe’s current terms of service are too vague to assure a donor that is the case—and I will get to the bottom of it.”
AG Rokita and several national peers request that GoFundMe take the following steps:
- Explain in detail how GoFundMe investigates or analyzes fundraisers on its platform, and what criteria GoFundMe uses to determine whether those fundraisers are fundraising for acceptable purposes or not;
- Explain in detail how GoFundMe determines whether to block, freeze, re-direct, or refund donations, and what criteria GoFundMe uses to decide which avenue to take;
- Explain in detail how GoFundMe handles donations when GoFundMe decides to (i) block donations, (ii) freeze donations, or (iii) re-direct donations;
- Review your policies and Terms of Service to ensure that donors are adequately and conspicuously informed at the time of their donation of the circumstances under which their donation may be blocked, frozen, re-directed or refunded without their authorization by conspicuously disclosing those circumstances through the user interface on your platform;
- Explain in detail the meaning of the term “unacceptable” in the context of your Terms of Service and describe whether there are additional internal policies defining it; and
- Articulate any steps being taken to address these issues in the form of a responsive letter or a meeting with the undersigned attorneys general.

This Week in Hoosier History

1865 – The funeral train carrying the body of Abraham Lincoln arrived in Indianapolis. The President lay in state in the rotunda of the old Capitol. Although there was a steady rain all day, over 50,000 people passed by the bier. At midnight, the casket was returned to Union Depot where the train traveled to Michigan City, its last scheduled stop in Indiana.
