
Indiana University Softball sweeps Purdue in doubleheader
Indiana Softball beat Purdue 6-3 and 7-4 at Andy Mohr Field Tuesday evening. The Hoosiers 7 Hits, 5 RBI’s, 5 Walks and 6 Strikeouts. Brooke Benson and Juvia Davis hit Home Runs for the Hoosiers in Game 1. Purdue had 8 hits, 4 RBI’s, 3 doubles, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Lafayette Native Heather Johnson gets the win for the Hoosiers to improve to 8-6 on the season and Natalie Foor gets her first save of the season.
In Game 2 The Hoosiers had 11 Hits, 7 RBI’s, a double, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Aaliyah Andrews and Brooke Benson Hit Home Runs for the Hoosiers. The Boilermakers had 4 hits, 4 RBI’s, a double, 2 home runs, 3 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Heather Johnson got her second win of the evening coming in relief pitching 1.1 innings allowing no hits and 2 strikeouts.
Indiana is 25-17 on the season while Purdue Falls to 20-28. The Hoosiers Host Illinois Friday through Sunday in the final regular season home series.
Indiana University Baseball beats Butler at Victory Field
The Indiana Hoosiers Baseball Team beat the Butler Bulldogs 9-1 at Victory Field in Downtown Indianapolis Tuesday Night. Indiana Men’s Basketball Head Coach and Indianapolis Native Mike Woodson threw the ceremonial first pitch. The Hoosiers gad 12 hits, 8 RBI’s, and Matthew Ellis hits a home run. Indiana also had a double; triple, and a Hoosier batter was hit by a pitch. Indiana batters were walked 3 times and struck out 10 times. Butler did not score until the top of the 9th inning when Kollyn All hit a solo home run. The Bulldogs had just 5 hits and a double. Butler batters were walked 6 times and struck out 15. Butler falls to 18-23-1 on the season.
Indiana is 17-23 on the season and will play at Illinois State at 6 pm this evening. Illinois State is 15-19 entering the week and 3-4 in Missouri Valley Conference play this season. The Redbirds are the third MVC team that IU will face this season and is 3-1 in those games. Center fielder Ryan Cermak leads the team with a.347 average, 36 runs scored, 14 home runs and stolen bases (7). ISU limits opponents to a .248 batting average against and lead the MVC in WHIP (1.41). Tonight’s meeting with Illinois State will mark the seventh meeting all-time between the two programs and the first non-neutral site meeting in the series. The two teams have split the previous six meetings, as Illinois State won the initial game in the series, 8-4, in 2000 and the last meeting, 8-7 in the NCAA Louisville Regional in 2019. Only two of the six games have been decided by three-or-fewer runs.
Bloomington South Softball beats Bloomington North 2-0
Bloomington South Beat Bloomington North 2-0 Tuesday evening in the city softball battle at Bloomington South. Marin Jacobs pitched a 2-hit shutout for the Panthers and gave up both hits in the top of the 7th inning. Jacobs ended the game on a strikeout. Bloomington South scored in the Bottom of the 3rd on a passed ball that brought home Kayli Reed. The Panthers scored in the bottom of the fifth when Alyssa Frye made an error at first base that scored the Panthers runner.

Bloomington South beat Bloomington North 6-4 Tuesday evening in the city baseball battle at Bloomington South. Nico Walters gets the win for the Panthers going to 3-2 on the season as Bloomington South moves to 3-0 in Conference Indiana. Caden McCoy takes the loss for Bloomington North as he goes to 1-2 on the season. Bloomington North had 4 hits and 1 error while the Panthers had 10 hits and 1 error.

Indians Shut Out Iowa 4-0
Pitchers Osvaldo Bido, Cam Vieaux and Eric Hanhold tossed eight no-hit innings until a soft one-out single off the bat of P.J. Higgins in the ninth broke up Indianapolis’ bid for a second no-hitter in the last two weeks on Tuesday night. The Indians sealed a 4-0 shutout with just one hit allowed against the Iowa Cubs. The Teams Play this afternoon at 1:08 pm
