John Zody appointed to Direct Housing and Neighborhood Development
Mayor John Hamilton today announced the appointment of John Zody to the position of Director of the City’s Housing and Neighborhood Development Department. Zody will begin April 5 and earn an annual salary of $100,555. Zody recently announced his plans not to run for another term as Chair of the Indiana Democratic Party, which he has led since 2013. Zody succeeds Doris Sims, who retired from the position January 29 after 38 years of service to the City, including directing HAND and the human resources department. Zody previously served as Chief of Staff in the Office of U.S. Representative Baron Hill, Director of Civic Engagement and Executive Director of Resource Development at Ivy Tech Community College and foundation, and managed state community development grant programs at the Indiana Department of Commerce. HAND Assistant Director Brent Pierce is serving as the department’s interim director until Zody assumes the position, after which Pierce will continue as assistant director.
Stacey Hartman promoted to Fort Wayne State Police Regional Laboratory Manager
Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter recently announced that Forensic Scientist I, Stacey R. Hartman, Firearms Identification Unit, Fort Wayne Regional Laboratory, has been promoted to Forensic Scientist EVII, to serve as the Fort Wayne Regional Laboratory Manager. In her new position as the Laboratory Manager, Hartman will be accountable for the administration and operation of the laboratory and evidence system at the Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Regional Laboratory within the context of the laboratory’s mission. Hartman has been employed at the FWRL for over 13 years, and brings a wealth of education, experience, and career achievements to her new position. She has an undergraduate degree in Biology, Criminal Justice and Criminology from Ball State University and earned a Masters in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut in 2005. Before coming to work for the ISP she was employed by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. She started her career with the Indiana State Police Laboratory Division in August of 2007 at the Fort Wayne Regional Laboratory as a member of the Forensic Firearms Identification Unit, and in 2019 received the Indiana State Police Forensic Scientist of the Year Award.
