Jeremy Gray named full-time Public Address Announcer for Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall
Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson announced Monday that Senior Associate Athletic Director Jeremy Gray will serve as the full-time public address announcer for IU men’s and women’s basketball games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall beginning with the 2022-23 seasons. Gray replaces Chuck Crabb, who served in that same role for 45 years before retiring in February. Following Crabb’s retirement, Gray stepped in and fulfilled the remaining public address responsibilities for the 2021-22 season on an interim basis, working the last handful of men’s and women’s regular season basketball games as well as the first and second-round NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament games played at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

“Jeremy did an outstanding job to close out the 2021-22 season filling in for Chuck, and has more than two decades of experience as a public address announcer and play-by-play radio broadcaster at IU as well as at prior professional stops before he joined our staff,” Dolson said in Press Release. “Replacing someone like Chuck, who was a cherished part of the IU Basketball gameday experience for so many of our fans, is no easy task. But Jeremy worked alongside Chuck as a member of our Athletic Department staff for many years and, like Chuck, knows our basketball programs, our history, and our fans as well as anyone.  I asked him to do this, and I know he will do a terrific job in this role.”

Among Gray’s past experiences are serving as the play-by-play voice for IU women’s basketball and baseball. Gray has also held broadcasting duties with the Big Ten Network, ESPN Radio, and as a play-by-play broadcaster for various sports at the University of Notre Dame. In addition to his new responsibilities, Gray will continue in his role as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications/Director of the Cuban Center.
