Lilly to invest $2.1 billion in new Indiana manufacturing sites
Eli Lilly and Company plans to expand its manufacturing footprint in Indiana by investing $2.1 billion in two new manufacturing sites at Indiana’s LEAP Lebanon Innovation and Research District in Boone County. These new facilities will expand Lilly’s manufacturing network for active ingredients and new therapeutic modalities, such as genetic medicines, and represent the company’s dedication to strengthening its portfolio of potentially life-changing treatments.

Over the past eight years, Lilly has delivered 17 new medicines, including tirzepatide (approved by the FDA as Mounjaro™) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and aims to introduce four potential new medicines in the next two years. These new sites will support increased demand for existing Lilly products and play a key role in bringing Lilly’s robust clinical pipeline to patients around the world.

The proposed project is expected to create up to 500 new Lilly roles with an additional four indirect jobs for every Lilly position created, based on industry data. An estimated 1,500 construction jobs will be required while the facilities are being built.

Lilly’s most recent expansion in Indiana was announced in 2019 and capped a series of investments in research and manufacturing in and around Indianapolis. Those investments totaled more than $2.5 billion over five years and have created additional manufacturing jobs bringing the total current number of Lilly manufacturing employees in Indiana to more than 3,700.

Annual individual income tax bills coming soon
Indiana DOR will soon begin the annual billing for Individual Income Tax. Customers or tax practitioners with e-POA access can pay a tax bill in full or request a payment plan through DOR’s e-services portal, the Indiana Taxpayer Information Management Engine (INTIME), at intime.dor.in.gov. Customers who would like to incorporate a new liability into an existing payment plan will need to contact Customer Service at 317-232-2240 for assistance. IDOR created three step-by-step guides to help customers use INTIME for payments or payment plans:

Remember to use INTIME’s “Respond to a Letter, Bill or Notice” function (available after login) to inquire about a bill or provide additional information. Using this function will link the notice to the message, which allows representatives to process the inquiry more efficiently. Taxpayers should also use this function to respond to or ask questions about a bill, letter or notice.

Capitol

1933 – A ceremony was held in Vincennes to celebrate the restoration of the territorial capitol. Known as “territorial hall,” the building served as headquarters for the Indiana Territory, which encompassed Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and part of Minnesota. The structure included the office of Governor William Henry Harrison. The restoration was performed by a group known as the Vincennes Fortnightly Club. They acted when they heard news that the old capitol was to be torn down.  (Pictured:  the building as it looked in 1933.)
