Owen Valley HS Student one of 24 in country to receive the 2023 $40,000 Big Future Scholarship
Owen Valley Highschool incoming Senior, Abigale Yeager, is one of two high school students from across the country to earn one of the July 2022 $40,000 Big Future Scholarships. Abby earned a chance for the $40,000 college scholarship by completing at least one of the key steps to plan, prepare, and pay for college through Big Future, the College Board’s online guide that helps students plan for life after high school. Big Future recommends smalls steps that all students can take at just the right time to explore career interests, identify potential majors, find colleges and scholarships, and access financial aid. It rewards the efforts students take by providing chances at scholarships.

“I am so excited about this scholarship,” said Yeager. “This will open up a lot of opportunities for me, and also provides me with a wider range of colleges I can apply for. [The scholarship] will also allow me to focus more on my academics next year, instead of having to worry about balancing studying and working too many hours.”

Abigale is the daughter of Merlyn and Courtney Yeager of Spencer. She looks to pursue a career in the medical field upon graduation.

How do students qualify for entries for drawings for $500 or $40,000
Whenever a student completes one step of the Big Future planning process, they earn an entry in every monthly drawing for $500. Whenever a student completes one step, they also earn an entry in all monthly drawings for $40,000, which happen between January 2022 and February 2023. When they complete other steps, they earn additional entries in the drawings for $40,000. By completing all six steps, students can earn six entries in the drawings for $40,000.
