Indiana Fires Men’s Basketball Head Coach Archie Miller
Archie Miller’s four years as Indiana Men’s Basketball Head Coach have come to an end as he was fired yesterday. Miller was 67-58 overall and 33-44 in the Big Ten with 3 winning seasons and NIT Quarterfinals appearance in 2019 with the Hoosiers. The Hoosiers were 12-15 this season and 7-11 in the Big Ten Conference and lost to Rutgers 61-50 last Thursday in the Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers did not make an NCAA Tournament Appearance in Miller’s four years in Bloomington. They would have likely made the NCAA Tournament in 2020 but that was canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Miller took over the Indiana Program in 2017 replacing Tom Crean. Miller Coached at Dayton from 2011-17 with a 139-63 record and took the Flyers to 4 straight NCAA Tournament Appearances. He is 206-118 overall in 10 seasons as a head coach with 4 NCAA Tournament appearances, 2 NIT appearances and 9 winning seasons.
Indiana Women’s Basketball Earns Number 4 Seed to Face VCU in NCAA Tournament
The Indiana Women’s Basketball Team has earned the school’s 7th NCAA Tournament Bid which the entire tournament will take place in San Antonio Texas. The Hoosiers are 18-5 and the number 4 seed in the Mercado Region and will face the Number 13seed VCU on Monday March 22nd at 2 PM on ESPNU. VCU is 16-10 on the season and won the Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship. The Hoosiers and the Rams have met twice before and the Hoosiers have won both meetings the first was December 5th, 2003 in Richmond 68-54 and December 22nd, 2004 in Bloomington with the Hoosiers winning 63-41. The Number 4 Seed marks the highest seed ever for the program. The Hoosiers were the number 6 seed in 1983 when the field was 36 teams. In the modern format the program’s highest seed was 8th in 2002. The Hoosiers are in back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time since 1994-95. Indiana is 3-6 all time in NCAA Tournaments and head Coach Teri Moren is 2-2 with the Hoosiers in the big dance.
Al Durham To Put His Name in Transfer Portal
Indiana Men’s Basketball Senior Al Durham will put his name into the transfer portal. Durham will graduate this May and have one year left to play for another school next season. All athletes were giving an extra year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Durham is from Lilburn Georgia and was the 3rd leading scorer for the Hoosiers this season at 11.3 points per game. Durham became the 53rd player in IU Men’s History to score 1,000 career points after scoring points against Michigan the on February 27th. Durham ends his IU Career with 1,035 points with is good for 51st all time on the Hoosiers scoring list.
Indiana Men’s Soccer Beats Michigan State 2-1
Indiana Men’s Soccer beat Michigan State 2-1 yesterday at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Luke Morrell got Michigan State on the board first with goal at 24:04 mark with the assist to Louis Sala. Indiana got the equalizer with a Victor Bezera Goal at 61:29 assisted by Brett Bebej. Its Bezera’s 5th goal in 5 games. The Hoosiers got the game winner from Daniel Munie at 87:20 mark with an assist to Spencer Glass. Its’ Munie’s second goal of the Season. Indiana is 4-1 and Michigan State 2-4 record. The Hoosiers will Travel to Rutgers this Friday for 1 pm matchup with the Scarlet Knights.
