
IUWBB hosts exhibition with Kentucky Wesleyan tonight at 7pm
No. 11/11 Indiana holds its only public exhibition of the season when it hosts Division II Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday, Nov. 4 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Tipoff is set for 7pm. The game is open and free to the public.
About the Panthers
Kentucky Wesleyan, a Division II school in Owensboro, Ky., is a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference where it went 19-10 overall in 2021-22 and 15-6 in league play. They were selected to finish second in the G-MAC preseason poll and return a strong group of starters including first team all-conference selection Tahlia Walton.

- Indiana holds its only public exhibition on Friday before regular season action starts on Nov. 8 at home against Vermont.
- Returning to the lineup this season are a pair of All-Americans in graduate student guard Grace Berger and senior forward Mackenzie Holmes. The pair was named to the 10-member preseason All-Big Ten team.
- The Hoosiers were also selected to finish second amongst the Big Ten media and third by the league’s coaches in the annual preseason polls.
- Seven new players were added to the roster in the offseason in four freshmen and three transfers. Highlighting the freshmen group is Israel native Yarden Garzon while the trio of transfers has a wealth of experience including the 2020 Indiana Miss Basketball Sydney Parrish, who arrives after two years at Oregon.
- Three players earned spots on the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame starting five preseason watch lists in October. Sara Scalia is up for the Ann Meyers Drysdale award (nation’s top shooting guard), Grace Berger is a three-time preseason honoree for the Cheryl Miller Award (nation’s top small forward) and Mackenzie Holmes repeats on the Lisa Leslie Award (nation’s top center). Governor Holcomb heading to Egypt for UN Climate Change Conference
Governor Eric J. Holcomb announced he will lead an economic development trip to Egypt next week, where he will join global leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. At the conference, Governor Holcomb will deliver a keynote address about Indiana’s efforts to usher in clean energy infrastructure and innovation to the state’s mixture of energy sources. This is the first time a governor of Indiana has participated in a UN COP event, and Gov. Holcomb will be the only U.S. Midwest governor in attendance this year.
Governor Holcomb, joined by Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers, will arrive in Egypt on Sunday to meet with business prospects, industry leaders, and workforce development partners in Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh. At COP27, hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), the Governor and Secretary will join representatives of more than 200 countries as well as subnational leaders, business executives and academics to elevate Indiana’s global, future-focused economy and to advance investment and partnership opportunities that will further clean energy generation and technology.
On November 10th, Governor Holcomb will deliver a keynote address, co-hosted by Georgetown University and the Climate Registry, discussing Indiana’s recent collaborative and public-private initiatives and policies to ensure energy security and stability, while also offering its top manufacturers and consumers access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy sources. On November 11th, the Governor will deliver a speech discussing Indiana’s role in building the future of electric vehicles.
Governor Holcomb will return to Indiana on Saturday, November 12th, concluding his 14th international trip as Governor and his first visit to Egypt. The costs of the state delegation, which also includes staff members of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and the Governor’s Office, are being paid through private donations to the Indiana Economic Development Foundation.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the following consumer products were recalled in October:

This Week in Hoosier History
1963 – On Halloween night, a propane tank exploded during a performance of “Holiday on Ice” at the Indiana Fairgrounds Coliseum. The blast killed 74 people and injured more than 400. The explosion propelled people, chairs, and concrete 40 feet into the air. The gas had been sparked by an electric popcorn machine.
