Indiana Women’s Basketball Headed to First NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 In School History

The 4th Seed Indiana Women’s Basketball Team is headed to their first NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in school history after dispatching 12 Seed Belmont 70-48 in the Mercado Region of the 2nd Round of NCAA Tournament in San Antonio Texas. The Hoosiers are 20-5 and have clinched their 6th straight 20-win season and 7th in the last 8 years. IU has had Twelve 20-win seasons in program history. The Hoosiers were led in scoring by Grace Berger with 17 Points and was named all WBCA Region Finalist before the game. Ali Patberg and Mackenzie Holmes scored 13 points each, Nicole Cardano-Hillary added 10 points Aleska Gulbe had 9 points and 15 rebounds. It’s the 2nd straight game Gulbe has pulled down double digit rebounds. The Hoosiers got 8 Points off their bench after they were held scoreless in Monday’s game against VCU. The Hoosiers were 19-25 from the free throw line. Destinee Wells led Belmont with 16 points and Tuti Jones added 10 for the Bruins who end the year at 21-6. Indiana is now 4-6 all time in NCAA Tournament History and Teri Moren is 3-2 as coach of the Hoosiers. Indiana will face Top Seed North Carolina State on Saturday in the Mercado Region Semifinal at the Alamo Dome on Saturday at 6 PM on ESPN2.      

Indiana Men’s Swimming 9th at NCAA Championships

Indiana Men’s Swimming is in 9th place with 18 points after the first night of the NCAA Championships in Greensboro North Carolina. The Hoosiers place 9th in the 800 Freestyle Relay with a time of 6:14:68 which is 6th quickest time in program history. The relay team consisted of Freshman Tomer Frankel, Junior Van Mathias, Sophomore Brendan Burns and Junior Jack Franzman who all earn Honorable All-American status for there efforts.  

Georgia Linebacker Denzel Moore Commits to Indiana University Football For 2023

Indiana University Football got its first verbal commit for the class of 2023 from Linebacker Denzel Moore of Meadowcreek Georgia. Moore 6-2 230 Pound Junior who picked the Hoosiers over Florida State. He had 24 offers in addition to the Hoosiers that include His Home State schools Georgia, Georgia Tech.  He also had offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Florida International, Houston, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Norte Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Toledo and UAB.  Moore cannot sign his National Letter of Intent until his senior season.

Indiana Men’s Basketball Players Race Thompson and Parker Stewart Enter Transfer Portal

Indiana Men’s Basketball Players Race Thompson and Parker Stewart have joined Armaan Franklin and Al Durham by putting their names in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Thompson played and started in all 27 games this season averaged 9.1 points and 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 Blocks in 28.1 minutes per game. The Minnesota Native had one of the biggest jumps this season across the Big Ten. As a Sophomore he averaged 3.7 Points and 3.9 Rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game. Thompson had 3 Double-Doubles and scored 13 times in double figure.  Stewart Transferred in at Mid-Season from Tennessee-Martin and did not play for the Hoosiers.    The 6-5 Guard started his career at Pittsburgh before transferring to Tennessee-Martin to play for his dad Anthony who unexpectedly passed away in November. He committed to Indiana in December as grad transfer and could have played in January but never saw the floor. Stewart will have 2 years left. All players who enter the transfer portal can talk to other schools but have the opportunity to return to Indiana if they chose.
