Failure to appear or answer a traffic summons
The House Roads and Transportation Committee heard HB 1156 authored by Rep. Criswell on failure to appear or answer a traffic summons. The bill provides a process for suspending the Indiana driving privileges of a minor who is an Indiana resident for failing to appear or answer a traffic summons. A representative of the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council testified in support of the bill and noted the bill is a technical fix to H.E.A. 1199 (2021). The bill passed 10-0.

Attorney General Todd Rokita offers update following TikTok hearing in Allen County
Attorney General Todd Rokita released the following statement:

“Our team put forward its case demonstrating in court today that TikTok’s app has dangerous depictions of drug use, alcohol consumption, illicit sexual activities and other harmful content.  TikTok’s false assurance that its app is safe for users as young as 12 years old is a violation of Indiana’s Deceptive Consumer Sales Act. I’m proud of our team’s excellent legal work in this case.  We will continue to unwaveringly work to protect young Hoosiers and hold this Chinese-Communist-controlled company accountable.”

Autism Rock and Rolls advocates inspiration with second gala
On Saturday, April 29th, Autism Rocks and Rolls (ARAR) will hold its annual Gala celebration at Fountain Square Ballroom in downtown Bloomington, Indiana. As part of the proceedings, ARAR is proud to welcome former Finger Eleven drummer Rich Beddoe to speak about his experiences with autism.

Sam Mitchell is the driving force behind Autism Rocks and Rolls. As a teen, Mitchell developed a podcast to connect people with autism and remove the stigma that is sometimes attached to the clinical diagnosis. What started as a podcast, seventy dollars in a bank account, and a hope to raise awareness has become a full-fledged non-profit that is governed by a seven-member board that works with Sam and Gina Mitchell to put a community element into autism acceptance.

As the main fundraiser for Autism Rocks and Rolls, the gala is in its second year. In addition to speaker Rich Beddoe, there will be advocacy groups that work with autism in south central Indiana, a silent auction, and food and drink for all attendees. While a 15 dollar donation is encouraged, everyone will be welcomed and encouraged to support Autism Rocks and Rolls in any way possible.

The public is encouraged to attend ARAR’s second annual Gala celebration on Saturday, April 29th at Fountain Square Ballroom in Bloomington beginning at 3pm. More information is available online at AUTISMROCKSANDROLLS.COM.
