Ivy Tech Bloomington receives $3,300 equipment donation from C&M Conveyor
Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington received a custom conveyor donation valued at $3,300 from C&M Conveyor in Mitchell, Ind. Alumni and C&M employee, Mitch Brown (2016), made the gift as a way to give back to the college. The new roller equipment will be used to store clay for ceramics classes offered by the Center for Lifelong Learning.

As a student nearing graduation, Brown made his career connection with C&M at a campus career fair. He was hired to do parts installation and now works as Parts & Service Manager for C&M’s partner company, Innoveyance. Brown is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Indiana University East.

Accelerating Imagination initiative opens door to IU’s AI, high-performance computing resources
A new Indiana University initiative, Accelerating Imagination, will bring together some of the university’s top researchers and resources in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and data science to make IU the leading partner for human-centered artificial intelligence research, education and workforce development efforts that improve Indiana and the world. Accelerating Imagination unites researchers in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and data science.

The initiative will be supported by an IU executive committee focused on the ethical application of human-centered AI, high-performance computing and technology research in Indiana and beyond. It will draw upon the university’s multidisciplinary research expertise, including IU’s pioneering large-scale data digitization efforts used by researchers all over the world and nationwide leadership in high-performance computing. The AI initiative will also expand partnerships with a wide range of industries throughout the state, including NSWC Crane; scale up strengths in social and behavioral sciences, business, and arts and humanities on the Bloomington campus; and accelerate IU’s entrepreneurship and commercialization efforts.

Bloomington Survey of services is underway
The City of Bloomington is asking residents to participate in the 2023 Bloomington Community Survey. A random and scientific sample of 3,000 households will be mailed invitations to participate in the survey, with the first wave of invitations sent March 20. The second wave will be sent March 27. Participants’ responses are confidential and will be weighted, analyzed, and published on the city’s open data portal B-Clear. Residents not selected randomly may still participate in the survey by completing it online. The results of residents who opt-in will be collected, analyzed, and published in a separate data set.

This online open participation option will begin on April 17. Data collection for the random sample survey and open participation survey closes May 1. A formal presentation of the results will be presented to City Council in late May. The results of the 2017, 2019, and 2021 surveys are available at bloomington.in.gov/communitysurvey.
