Indiana Cutters Fall to the Cincinnati Dukes 30-16

The Indiana Cutters Semipro football Team fell to the Cincinnati Dukes 30-16 in a preseason game Saturday night at the Wyoming Rec Center in Cincinnati Ohio. The Dukes scored five passing touchdowns and had 24-0 lead at halftime and led 30-0 with 11:13 left in the third quarter. The Dukes were 0-5 on 2-point conversions. The Cutters got on the board as Marquise Holt had 1 yard touchdown run and Sidney Moore Pass to GaJuan King for the 2-point conversion with 8:30 left in the game made it 30-8. The Cutters added another touchdown with Rob McCoy throwing a 16-yard pass to Sidney Moore and the 2-point conversion from McCoy made 30-16 with 3:20 left made it 30-16. The Cutters were driving when McCoy threw an interception to end the game. The Cutters did get sacks from Nick Land and Kenny Nalley and Interception from Isaiah Moore.  The biggest play of the night on a 1st and 10 at Dukes 38-yard line when Linebacker Kyle Franklin stop the Dukes running back for no gain with a hit so hard it put a big hole in his helmet. The Cutters will play a second preseason game May 22nd in Indianapolis against the Lake County Warriors.  

Grace Berger Named Finalist for AmeriCup Team

Indiana University Women’s Basketball Rising Senior Grace Berger has been named one of thirteen finalists for the 2021 AmeriCup Team that will compete June 11-19th in San Juan Puerto Rico. The Team will return to camp June 1st at the University Of South Carolina and the final 12 player roster will be named before the tournament starts. Berger was one of 20 players competing for a spot. The Louisville Kentucky Native was nations leader in Triple Doubles this season with three. Berger averaged 15.4 Points 6.8 Rebounds and 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals leading the Hoosiers to the first ever Sweet 16 and Elite 8 Appearances this season.  

Former Indiana Swimmer Vini Lanza Qualifies for Olympics

2019 Indiana University Graduate Vini Lanza will represent Brazil in the sport of Swimming in this year Summer Olympics in Tokyo Japan. Lanza finished 2nd the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:59:58 in the Brazilian Olympic Trials in Rio De Janiero. Lanza finished 2nd and beat the FINA Standard time of 1:59:67. Lanza was 3 time Big 10 Swimmer of the Championships. He competed for Indiana from 2015-19. He is Native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil.  3 Other Hoosiers were competing for spots at the Brazilian Trials but did not make the team as 2020 Grads Maria Paula Heitman and Iago Mussalem and 2021 grad Gabriel Fantoni took part in the trials.    

The McCullough Family Commits to Indiana Football

Indiana’s New Running Back Coach Deland McCullough will have three of his four sons play for him at Indiana in the Next three seasons. Deland McCullough II announced Saturday he will transfer to IU from Miami Ohio. McCullough Redshirted in 2019 and played just 2 games in 2020 for the RedHawks. McCullough started his high School Career at Bloomington North before leaving to play his junior Season at Blue Valley North in Kansas before he missed his senior season due to injury.  Dasan McCullough was Verbally committed to Ohio State in 2022 announced Sunday he has committed to Indiana. He will play this upcoming season at Bloomington South after three years at Blue Valley North. The Hoosiers got a commitment from the third son Deah a couple weeks ago who will be a junior at Bloomington South this fall he has a younger son Diem.  Deland McCullough was an assistant coach for the Hoosiers from 2011-16 before he came back this offseason to take over the running backs coaching Job from Mike Hart who left go to Michigan.
