Governor issues Proclamation for National Lineworker Appreciation Day

Lineworkers brighten our communities

You might have seen them hard at work at all hours – and in the harshest conditions – aloft in a bucket truckclipped to a utility pole, or spotting a teammate from the ground. Their mission: to keep the lights on. Tuesday was National Lineworker Appreciation Day, the day that we asked to consider the sacrifices made by those working long hours in tough conditions to keep the power on.

Duke Energy issued the following statement:

We rely on our line teams at Duke Energy to support daily customer needs as well as special projects that will help us deliver on our goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. They are enabling us to light the way to a cleaner, smarter energy future – expanding renewables, strengthening the grid and cutting emissions without compromising reliability.
