Former Indiana Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Mike Roberts Joining Cincinnati Staff

Former Indiana Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Mike Roberts is leaving the school to join New Head Coach Wes Miller at the University of Cincinnati. Roberts worked under Wes Miller as associate head coach at North Carolina Greensboro for 8 years before joining Archie Miller’s staff the last two at IU. Indiana announced that Roberts would be kept by new coach Mike Woodson as an assistant athletic Director for basketball administration which would put under the direct authority of Thad Matta. Roberts is from Terre Haute but played HS Ball in South Eugene Oregon was recruited by Bob Knight but never played for him. Knight was Fired in September 2000 when Roberts arrived. Roberts Graduated in 2005 and was a member of the 2002 National Runner Up Team and Averaged 1.4 Points and 1.0 rebounds a game in his Hoosier career.  

Bloomington South’s Joey Bomba Commits to the University of Indianapolis

Bloomington South Boys Basketball Senior Joey Bomba has committed to play College Basketball at the University of Indianapolis.  Bomba had 15 points in the HBCA All Star Classic at Barr-Reeve as the West beat the East 132-128 in double overtime Sunday before announcing his college choice. Bomba was 101-12 in 4 seasons as the Panthers won 4 sectionals and won the 2021 regional before losing to Lawrence North in the Semistate. In 2019-20 South was 26-0 and won the sectional before the rest of the state tournament was canceled due COVID-19.  

Battle of Bloomington In Baseball and Softball

Bloomington North will be a busy place tonight as both Bloomington North Baseball and Softball Teams Host Crosstown Rival Bloomington South with both games starting at 5:30 PM. Tickets have been presold and attendance has been capped 150 for each event. There will be no tickets sold at the gate and everyone must have ticket to watch while on the Bloomington North Campus.

Indiana Water Polo to Face Stanford Friday in MPSF Quarterfinals

Indiana Water Polo will be the number 6 seed when they face number 3 seed Stanford Friday at 2:30 PM Eastern Time in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Quarterfinals in Tempe Arizona. The Hoosiers are 9-16 and lost to Stanford twice in the regular season 17-6 on March 20th and 15-5 on March 21st in Palo Alto CA. The Top Seed USC got the Bye. Number 2 UCLA will face Number 7 San Jose State at 11am Eastern Time and number 4 California will face Number 5 Arizona State at 4 PM Eastern Time. There will be 3 games on Saturday and Sunday. The winner gets the automatic Bid to the NCAA Championships  May 14th-16th in Los Angeles.
