Jamar Johnson Selected in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft By the Denver Broncos

Indiana Safety Jamar Johnson was taken by the Denver Broncos in the 5th round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the 164th pick.  Johnson is the first IU safety drafted since Eric Smedley in 1996 when the Buffalo Bills took him in the 7th round with the 249th pick.  The Hoosiers have had 12 players selected since 2014 and at least one drafted in each of the last eight years, the program longest streak since 1983-98. Johnson 2020 all Big Ten first team selection. He posted 43 tackles, 33 solo, one sack, 3.5 for loss four interceptions, once forced fumble and four pass breakups in 8 games.

Four Undrafted Hoosiers Sign Free Agent Contracts

Four IU Football players signed undrafted Free Agent contracts after the NFL Draft Concluded Saturday Night. Offensive Lineman Harry Crider signed with the Philadelphia Eagles; Defensive Lineman Jerome Johnson signed with the Miami Dolphins. Wide Receiver Whop Philyor signed with the Minnesota Vikings and Running Back Stevie Scott III signed with the New Orleans Saints. There are currently 18 players in the NFL from Indiana University.

Indiana Men’s Soccer Beats Saint Francis Brooklyn on Penalties to Advance to Sweet 16

Indiana Men’s Soccer beat Saint Francis Brooklyn 3-1 on Penalties in Wilmington North Carolina Sunday Evening to Advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 where they will face Marquette on Thursday with a time to be determined. The Game was tied 1-1 and went to Penalties.  Victor Bezerra scored his 12th goal of the season at the 35:07 mark while St Francis tied it up in the 77:57 mark. The Hoosiers are onto the sweet 16 for the sixth straight year the longest streak since 1988-2004 when the made it 17 straight seasons. The Hoosiers improve to 10-1-1 while St Francis Brooklyn ends the year at 6-1-3.

Indiana Baseball Takes Two out of Three against Iowa

Indiana Baseball won Saturday and Sunday Against Iowa after falling Friday to the Hawkeyes in a three-game series at Bart Kaufman Field. The Hawkeyes beat the Hoosiers 6-5 before the Hoosiers took game 2 12-6 and game 3 12-8. IU is 20-9 on the year and will play at Rutgers  Friday at 2 pm and Saturday at 11 am before playing Nebraska in New Jersey Saturday at 3 pm and Sunday at 11 am.
