
State Representative arrested after automobile accident
58 year-old, 6-term member of the Indiana State Legislature Jim Lucus (R – Seymour), has been arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Lucas was booked into Jackson County Jail before 4am on Wednesday morning after being picked up by Indiana State Police approximately 2 miles from his vehicle, which was found damaged on the side of the road, near I65 in Seymour, Indiana. The Republican State Representative is believed to have been driving intoxicated when he crashed into a guardrail, pulled his vehicle back into the road, continued to drive a while with 3 blown out tires, and subsequently walk away from the scene. Lucas remained in jail for several hours before posting a $705 Bond.
Indiana manufacturing plant to close, 70 employees to lose jobs
Graphic Packaging International LLC, a Fortune 500 consumer packaging company based in Atlanta, Georgia, is planning to close its Indiana manufacturing plant by August 4th. The Auburn, IN facility which manufactures folding cartons for food and consumer products employs 70 individuals. The affected employees are being encouraged to apply for other positions within the company GPI if they are interested.

1922 – Isamu Noguchi graduates from LaPort High School. While collaborating with the Herman Miller company in 1947, Noguchi created the iconic Noguchi Table. The table is still in production today.
