Indiana Men’s Soccer Beats Marquette in NCAA Third Round 2-1

Indiana got two second half goals to beat Marquette 2-1 in the Third Round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament in Cary North Carolina Thursday Evening. Indiana was down 1-0 at halftime after AJ Franklin scored for the Golden Eagles at the 43.19 mark. IU got on the board with a goal by Herbert Endeley at the 70:47 Mark with the assist going to Victor Bazerra. The Hoosiers get the game winner at the 79:31 Mark with a goal from Maouloune Goumballe. The Game was very chippy as it had 11 yellow cards between the two teams. Indiana is 11-1-1 and Marquette ends the year at 9-3-1. Indiana will Play this Monday in the Quarterfinals with a 5 PM start time in Cary North Carolina against the winner of the Late Game between Virginia Tech and Seton Hall.  

Indiana Women’s Basketball Players Ali Patberg and Grace Berger Named All District

Indiana Women’s Basketball Players Ali Patberg and Grace Berger have been selected to the 2020-21 CoSida Academic All District Team.  This is the third time in four years the Hoosiers have landed two student athletes on the All-District Region 5 Team. Patberg is a CoSida Academic All District honoree for the 3rd straight year. A Graduate of IU’s Kelly School of Business in May 2020 with a degree in finance. Patberg is working on her Masters Degree in recreational administration holds a 4.00 GPA. Berger Holds a 3.68 GPA in Sports Management and Marketing and is a two time Academic All-Big Ten Honoree.

Edgewood Baseball Coach Bob Jones Gets 500th Career Win

Edgewood Baseball Coach Bob Jones has picked up his 500th career win as Edgewood beat Northview 4-3 Wednesday Night in Ellettsville. Jones has coached 37 seasons at Edgewood and the Mustangs have won 10 Sectional 3 Regional and 1 Semistate championship. The Mustangs lost to Andrean in the 2019 State Championship Game. Edgewood has won 5 Western Indiana Conference titles and 6 West Central Conference titles under Jones.

Hall of Fame Classic Field Announced

Parings were announced for the annual Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic Girls and Boys Basketball Tournaments at New Castle Fieldhouse in New Castle Indiana. The Girls will play Wednesday December 29th with Westfield taking on Franklin at 11 am followed by Washington and South Bend Washington. The Consolation and Championship Games with start at 6 pm that evening.  The Boys will play Thursday December 30th with Westfield talking on Connersville at 11 am followed by Homestead and Cathedral. The Consolation and Championship Games will start at 6 pm that evening. This is an invite only tournament and schools can be only invited once every 5 years and his considered the most prestigious in season tournament in Indiana High School Basketball. This will be the 38th edition for the Girls and the 45th for the Boys. Westfield is the first school since New Castle in 2006 that has had their boys’ and girls’ team in the tournament at the same time which was the only other time in tournament history.
