Bloomington man arrested after Friday evening shooting
On June 16, 2023, at approximately 10pm, Officers with the Bloomington Police Department responded to the 2600 block of S Madison Street in reference to multiple callers reporting several shots fired in the area. While officers were enroute, the Central Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot and was in the driveway of a residence in the 100 block of E Willow Court. When officers arrived on Willow Court, a 34-year-old man was found lying in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. It was learned that the man had been shot in the 2600 block of S Madison Street and had driven himself back to the residence on Willow Court. Officers immediately began administering emergency medical care to the victim, who was then transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The victim did undergo emergency surgery and hospital staff advised investigators that they considered him to be in stable condition.
Officers located a total of eight spent 9mm shell casings near the intersection of S Madison Street and W Watson Street. Several witnesses were interviewed and provided information to investigators. It was determined that the victim had arrived in a vehicle to the 2600 block of S Madison Street, where an argument ensued between the victim and the suspect, identified as 47 year-old Bloomington resident Quentin R. Farmer, Sr. It was reported that as the victim stood near his vehicle arguing with Farmer, Farmer produced a handgun from his waistband and began shooting at the victim. This resulted in the victim initially falling backwards. The victim then reportedly stood up and got into his vehicle and was screaming that he had been shot. At that point, the victim drove away from the area and went to the residence in the 100 block of W Willow Court, where he was later found by officers lying in the driveway.
Farmer had fled from the residence and was not located by officers. An arrest warrant was issued for Farmer the night of the event for multiple charges. At approximately 9pm on Saturday, a Sergeant was patrolling in the area of S Madison Street and observed Farmer in a driveway speaking with others. The Sergeant had knowledge that an arrest warrant had been issued and immediately took Farmer into custody without incident.
Farmer was transported to the Bloomington Police Department for an interview. Once the interview was complete, Quentin R Farmer, Sr. was transported to the Monroe County Jail and remanded on charges of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, and Criminal Recklessness.
