Tornados strike Indiana,1 death reported
At least one has been reported dead after a tornado struck Indiana City. Martin County Officials have confirmed the loss of life and have siad tyhat the individual’s partner was Lifelined to a medical facility following the storms that swept through the Midwest on Sunday evening. Baseball-sized hail, heavy rains, and wind were plentiful throughout the state of Indiana, which brought tornadic activity. possible touchdown sites include Martin County, Johnson County, and Monroe County.

The probable tornado which struck Monroe County was in the Southwestern part of the County, in which up to 10 homes and barns have been destroyed. No injuries were reported in Bloomington or Monroe County.

Greenwood is the site of additional severe damage, although therer are no confirmed injuries at this point.

Evaluation of the total storm damage is still underway, and will likely continue to grow over the coming days as Officials are able to visit the extensive locations.

Monroe County Jailer injured by suspect of several attcks

Monroe County Sheriff’s Jailer Avery Brahaum is recovering after being struck in the head by a man who was being sought for connection to a string of physical attcks throughout Downtown Bloomington. The incident which happened on Saturday morning, caused 7 staples to be placed in the skull of Brahaum, in order to address the deep laceration. Christopher Head, has been arrested in the incident, accused of using a thermos to injureBrahaum, and charged with Felony Battery on a Public Safety Official

Head is also being charged with theft and four other counts of Battery for incidents earlier in the morning, which occured around the B-line Trail near events such as the Bloomington Farmers’ Market, Lemonade Day, and the Local Artist Art Fairr.

Indiana Arts Program review
In 2022, the IAC took the critical step of looking deeply at our programs, services, and operations, starting with an evaluation of the Arts Organization Support grant program. Read more about the process to review the Arts Organization Support Program. Following this review, the IAC will now complete a similar evaluation of the Arts Project Support (APS) program. The IAC has enlisted the support of external consultants Ruby Lopez Harper and Sara Peterson to guide this process and provide recommendations for strengthening the impact of the program on applicants, the agency, and the State of Indiana. 

If you are interested in sharing your perspectives on the APS program and the future of project support for arts and creativity, there are two more upcoming opportunities for you to participate. Each of the following virtual input sessions will last 90 minutes and will be facilitated by the consultant team

June 27, 1929 Dick the Bruiser [William Fritz Afflis], American professional wrestler, born in Delphi. He grew up in Lafayette and played football at Purdue and for the Green Bay Packers. When his football career ended in 1954, he became a professional wrestler.
