I 465 Eastbound Update, closures upcoming for I 465 Westbound
After 3 weeks of closure, INDOT revealed exactly what has progressed in the nearly 3 weeks of closure for I 465 Eastbound, between June 2-22. INDOT placed more than 16,000 tons of stone and 12,000 tons of asphalt in addition to laying more than 3,000 feet of drainage structures and setting more than 140 posts for sound barriers. The 20-day closure helped workers to remain safe while completing the work. There will still be some single-lane traffic restrictions over the coming weeks as crews put the final touches on the Eastbound project.

Meanwhile, a similar closure and project will begin on July 7th for Westbound traffic. The work will be about the same for 1 465 West as it was for I 465 East. Here are the projected ramp closures:

  • I-65 northbound/southbound to I-465 westbound
  • East Street/U.S. 31 to/from I-465 westbound
  • Harding Street/S.R. 37 to/from I-465 westbound
  • Kentucky Avenue/S.R. 67 to/from I-465 westbound
  • Southbound U.S. 31 (East Street) ramp to I-465 westbound will remain closed until the end of 2024

Auditor Klutz to Become Comptroller Klutz
Changing the name from State Auditor to State Comptroller became a soon-to-be reality for Auditor Tera Klutz, CPA, this week as Governor Eric J. Holcomb signed House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1001, the state budget legislation. Language within the budget allows the name change to take effect July 1, 2023, with the understanding all previous documents with “Auditor” remain valid.

A frequent and logical misconception of the State Auditor is that it audits the State, local units of governments or individuals – this is not the case. The Indiana State Board of Accounts audits the State and local units of governments, and the Indiana Department of Revenue audits individual taxpayers. Indiana will join 19 other states who refer to their state’s chief financial officer as the State Comptroller or Controller.

HEA 1001, authored by State Representative Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) and sponsored by Senator Ryan Mishler (R-Mishawaka) passed out of conference committee in the House by a vote of 70-27, and out of the Senate 39-10.
