Little 500 Bike Races Today at IU’s Armstrong Stadium

The Little 500 Bike Races will be held today at Bill Armstrong Stadium on the IU Campus. The Women’s Race starts at noon and will be 100 laps. The Men’s Race starts at 4 PM is 200 laps. No Fans will be allowed and the races will be streamed on broadcast.iu.edu. Normally the Little 500 is in April with the Women running on a Friday Afternoon and the Men on Saturday afternoon. The 2020 Race was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and this year’s race was moved back a month. The Men’s Race has been run since 1951 as the Cutters are going for the three peat. The Women’s Race has been running since 1988 with Teter the defending champions. 

Edgewood Softball Beats Owen Valley in Sectional Semifinal

Edgewood Softball beat Owen Valley 6-5 in 8 innings Tuesday Night to advance to the Class 3A championship scheduled for 6 PM this evening at Edgewood. The Mustangs are 21-5 as Katy Burkhardt went the distance in the circle for the Mustangs. Owen Valley tied 5-5 in the top of the 7th inning as Edgewood could not walk it off in the bottom of the 7th. Edgewood led 5-3 in the top of 5th as Owen Valley made a comeback to send it into extra’s. Edgewood has won 11 Sectional titles with the last one coming in 2018 all but one of those have come in Class 3A. Edgewood’s first ever sectional title came in Class 2A in 2002. 

Bloomington North Softball Beats Columbus East 12-5 In Sectional Opener

Bloomington North Softball beat Columbus East 12-5 in the Class 4A Sectional Opener in Shelbyville Tuesday Night. The Cougars led 7-5 going to the top of the 7th inning and got 5 runs across in the top of the 7th to put the game out of reach. The Cougars are 10-13 on the year and will play the winner of the Shelbyville-Columbus North Game in the Semifinals on Thursday with East Central and Bloomington South playing the first semifinal. 

Indiana Fever Lose to Washington 85-69 In Final Game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse For 2021 Season

The Indiana Fever lost to the Washington Mystics 85-69 Tuesday Night. It was the Final Home Game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the 2021 season due to ongoing renovations this summer. The Fever will play the rest of there home games at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum with Chicago on Saturday June 12th at 1 pm. Tiffany Mitchell scored 11 points, Jessica Breland and Danielle Robinson added 10 points apiece. The Fever are 1-5 on the year and will travel to Las Vegas to play the Aces Friday at 10:30 PM and Sunday at 6 PM.
