Indiana University Football gets back to work traveling to #2 Michigan
The Indiana Hoosiers Football Team will get back to work Saturday afternoon traveling to the Big House in Ann Arbor Michigan to face the #2 Michigan Wolverines at Noon on FOX. Indiana is coming off a bye week in which the Hoosiers reevaluated and restructured how they do things.  Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach was let go after a 44-17 loss at Maryland 2 weeks ago and Rod Carey who was the Quality Control Coach has been named the replacement and was given the job full time with no interim tag attached.   The Hoosiers are 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Big Ten. Indiana has been outscored 122-111. Quarter back Tayven Jackson is 71-115 with 862 yards passing on the season. Jackson who was benched in the second half of the Maryland game. Has thrown 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions along with being sacked 7 times on the season. Brendan Sorsby who threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter against Maryland is 24-42 passing for 250 yards and no interceptions along with being sacked one time this season.  Third string quarterback Broc Lowry is 1-1 for 8 yards on the season.

Jaylin Lucas leads Indiana in Rushing with 49 carries for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns. Christian Turner has 40 carries for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns. Josh Henderson who has missed the last two games with injury has 2 touchdowns for 91 yards on 22 carries. Jackson has the teams other rushing touchdown as Indiana has carried the ball 173 times for 551 yards with 7 touchdowns. Cam Camper leads the Hoosier receivers with 13 catches for 249 yards and a touchdown. Donaven McCulley has 18 catches for 208 yards a touchdown. The Hoosiers have 96 catches for 1,120 yards and 4 touchdowns with Jaylin Lucas and Andison Coby accounting for the other two touchdowns.

Michigan is 6-0 and 3-0 in the Big Ten as the Wolverines have scored 30 or more points in every game this season outscoring their opponent 193-40. Michigan rolled over Minnesota 52-10 in Minneapolis last Saturday Night. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy was 14-20 for 219 yards and a touchdown pass along with 2 rushing touchdowns carrying the ball four times for 17 yards. Running Back Blake Corum had 9 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. The Wolverines had two pick sixes in the game as well. Indiana will see two former Hoosiers that now play for Michigan. Quarterback Jack Tuttle who played for the Hoosiers from 2019-22 is in his final year as grad transfer. Tuttle has played in three games this season as McCarthy’s backup going 5-6 passing for 45 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Tight End AJ Barner played at IU from 2020-22 and has 8 receptions for 75 yards with no touchdowns in five games this season. Michigan has dominated this series 61-10 with the Hoosiers last winning in Bloomington in 2020 38-21. Before 2020 the Hoosiers had not beaten Michigan since October 14, 1987, 14-10 in Bloomington the only time the Hoosiers have beaten Michigan and Ohio State in the same season. Indiana has not won in Ann Arbor since a 27-20 win on October 21, 1967.  

Top Ranked Bloomington North Football looking for its first unbeaten regular season
The top ranked Bloomington North Cougars are looking to do something that no other team in school history has ever accomplished which is end the regular season undefeated. The Cougars will travel to Indianapolis to take on a struggling Southport Cardinals team at 7pm.  The Cougars are 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in Conference Indiana. The Cougars can win their second ever Conference Indiana title to go with their 2019 championship. Bloomington North is averaging 37.0 points a game and have outscored their opponents 296-156 and 150-99 in conference play. On Defense the Cougars give up 19.5 points per game. The Cougars are coming off a 38-35 win over Columbus North last week in which they had to hang on after a big second half comeback by the Bulldogs. Southport is 1-7 and 3rd year head coach Alex Bettag got his first win two weeks ago after the Cardinals beat Terre Haute North 43-7 at home to break a long losing streak. The Cardinals are averaging 13.6 points a game on offense and giving up 37.8 points on Defense.  The Cardinals have been outscored 302-109 and 135-56 in conference play.  Bloomington North has won the last four meetings with Southport as the Cardinals beat the Cougars 40-34 at Bloomington North on October 12, 2018.

The third ranked Bloomington South Panthers wrap up the regular season when they host the Seymour Owls at 7 pm at Fred Huff Memorial Field.  Bloomington South is 7-1 on the season and finished 4-1 in Conference Indiana with their only loss coming at home to their crosstown rivals Bloomington North 25-24 in overtime on September 8. The Panthers are outscoring their opponent 370-95 and 239-53 in conference play.  The Panthers scored 51 on Brebeuf Jesuit last week and that is the third time the Panthers have put up 50 or more points in a game this season. The Panthers have scored 35 or more points in every game that they have won this season. Seymour is 5-3 on the season and brings in an offense who averages 44.6 points per game. The Owls beat New Albany 53-14 last week. Seymour has scored over 40 points in seven of their eight games this season. The Owls lost at home to Bedford North Lawrence 36-28 on September 15. Seymour has outscored their opponents 357-236 and gives up 29.5 points on Defense. Bloomington South beat Seymour 42-13 last season in Seymour. The teams had last met in the regular season on October 7, 1994, when Bloomington South beat the Owls 49-7 in Seymour.

Edgewood will look to end the regular season on a positive note as the Mustangs take on Brown County at 7 pm on the Red Carpet in Ellettsville. Edgewood is 1-7 and have not won since the opening week when they beat Mitchell 41-27 on August 18, at home. The Mustangs have battled through a lot of injuries and depth concerns this season. Edgewood has been outscored 343-101 as they average 12.6 points on offense and give up 42.9 points on defense. Brown County comes in 1-7 as the Eagles beat Irvington Prep Academy 62-6 on September 8. Brown County averages 12.1 points on offense and gives up 50.4 points on defense. The Eagles have been outscored 403-97 including an 84-0 loss to Greencastle on September 22. Brown County has given up 50 or more points 5 times and 60 or more points 4 times and been shutout 4 times on the season. This matchup with Edgewood is for the Hoof and Talon Trophy in which Edgewood won 14-6 last season in Nashville. Brown County won in Ellettsville 12-0 to end the 2021 regular season.

#25 Indiana University Women’s Soccer and #20 Michigan State play to a 1-1 draw
The # 25 Indiana University Women’s Soccer Team played the #20 Michigan State Spartans to a 1-1 draw Thursday Night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Hoosiers are 10-1-4 on the season and 4-1-2 in the Big Ten with their final home regular season match coming on Sunday at 3pm against Michigan. Michigan State is 7-3-4 and 3-2-2 in Conference play. The Hoosiers 19-9-3 all time against the Spartans as Michigan State has won the last two matchups 1-0. Indiana Head Coach Erwin van Bennekom Is pleased with the progress he has seen against the Spartans in recent memory. “A tie is a fair result” van Bennekom said after the match. “We have seen a lot of development in our team compared to playing last year and we are pleased with that” van Bennekom said.

This was an even matchup between these two teams. A game where both teams were playing ball control but the Hoosiers like go forward early and often and they were able to get 3 shots in the first five and half minutes of the match.  Michigan State had a big chance as Indiana Goalkeeper Jamie Gerstenberg could not clear the ball and was way out of the box and Michigan State had the advantage but could not convert as the shot by MJ Andrus at 22:55 went wide of the goal on the right-side with the Indiana backline protecting the net they best they could.   With 3 minutes and 22 seconds remaining in the first half the ball deflected off a Michigan State defender and over the top of the head Michigan State goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks and into the net and for an own goal and Indiana lead 1-0. Going into the locker room the Hoosiers out shot the Spartans 7-3 and 2-0 on shots on goal. Michigan State Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks had 2 saves and Indiana Goalkeeper Jamie Gerstenberg did not make a save. IU had six fouls to three for the Spartans. IU had three corner kicks with just one for Michigan State. Neither was called for offsides.

In the Second half Michigan State was able to tie the game at the 47:12 mark when Justina Gaynor scored her third goal of season beating Indiana Goalkeeper Jamie Gerstenberg with the assist going to Reagen Cox for her second assist of the season. Gerstenberg is tied with Bethany Kopel all time for the shutout record in school history with 23 and she will have to wait until Sunday’s game with Michigan to have another shot at that record.  It was the 9th goal that Gerstenberg has given up this season. Indiana outshot the Spartans 12-8 and both teams had two shots on goal. Kaitlyn Parks had 2 saves for Michigan State and Gerstenberg one for Indiana. IU committed 11 fouls and Michigan State had six. Michigan State had 8 corner kicks in the match and four for the Hoosiers and neither team was called offsides. The Hoosiers have three regular season matches remaining and remain in the top four of the Big Ten Standings with 10 Points. The Hoosiers missed out on the Big Ten Tournament a season ago but this year they have a chance to host a quarterfinal matchup depending on the rest of the regular season plays out.  

Indiana University Men’s Soccer continues there in state dominance over Evansville
The Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Soccer team beat the Evansville Purple Aces 2-0 Wednesday Night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Hoosiers are 5-3-4 on the season and have won 2 in a row and not lost since a 2-1 loss at Michigan State on September 22 as the Hoosiers are 2-0-2 in their last four matches. Indiana leads the all-time series 33-4-4 since a 1-0 NCAA Tournament loss on November 25, 1990, in Evansville, the Hoosiers are 22-0-2 since that last lost to the Aces. Indiana and Evansville played to a 1-1 draw in Bloomington on October 20, 2005, and 1-1 on October 25, 2022, in Evansville.  The Hoosiers are 19-1-1 all time at home against the Purple Aces with the only loss coming on October 27, 1985, when Evansville won 3-0. The Hoosiers are 109-14-8 against In-State teams and have not lost since 2019. The Hoosiers are 9-0-2 since that loss to Butler and since 2017 they are 15-1-4. The Hoosiers continue to dominate at Bill Armstrong Stadium with an all-time home record of 358-71-55 and 70-7-13 with 57 shutouts. Head Coach Todd Yeagley picks up his 190th all-time win and 183rd as Hoosier Head Coach. Yeagley is 183-64-51 in 14 seasons at IU and 190-73-53 in 15 seasons overall. Indiana is 812-197-116 overall in 51 seasons of varsity competition. The Hoosiers have played 158 consecutive regular season matches without back-to-back losses.  Evansville is 3-6-3 on the season.

The Hoosiers got their quickest goal of the season at the 5:47 mark when Patrick McDonald found the bottom left goal getting the ball past Evansville Senior Goalkeeper Aidan Montoure with the assist to Samuel Sarver who sent into the box right to the right foot of McDonald who knocked it home.  It’s the first goal of the season by McDonald and the third assist of the season by Sarver. The Hoosiers got a second goal at the 26:31 mark as Karsen Henderlong got his second goal of the season when Montoure over committed and came off his line and Henderlong had a wide-open net to knock it home. Patrick McDonald and Collins Oduro had the assist. The play started when Jansen Miller made a great move to get past the Evansville Defender to find Sarver up the right side who sent into the box and hit an Evansville Defender as McDonald missed the half volley and Oduro got the miss hit with Montoure off his line and found Henderlong all alone.  The Hoosiers dominated the first half leading 9-1 in shots and 5-0 in shots on goal. Evansville Goalie Aidan Montoure made three saves while Indiana Goalkeeper JT Harms did not make save. The Purple Aces committed 6 fouls and the Hoosiers three. IU had three corner kicks to two for Evansville and both teams were called for offsides one time.

In the Second Half Evansville had 3 shots to 1 for the Hoosiers. Neither team had a shot on goal. Adian Montoure had 1 save for the Purple Aces. Evansville committed one foul and a corner kick. The Hoosiers were called for their second offside of the game. Mother nature decide to interfere as the game was stopped at the 30:38 mark left in the second half when lighting was spotted, and the teams had to leave the field to seek shelter.  After an Hour Delay the game was restarted at 9:33 pm. The teams were playing very conservative just playing out the final 30 minutes without injury with teams getting ready for the final 4-5 games left in the regular season. The Hoosiers outshot Evansville 14-5 and 7-0 in shots on goal. Evansville Goalkeeper Adian Montoure made 6 saves and IU goalkeeper JT Harms did not make a save and gets his sixth shutout of the season. Evansville committed 11 fouls to five for the Hoosiers. IU had seven corner kicks to five for Evansville and the Hoosiers were called three times for offsides and Evansville twice. Joey Maher picked up a yellow card for the Hoosiers at the 70:56 mark and the Purple Aces picked up two yellow cards at the 45:29 and 86:49 marks in the second half.  The Hoosiers are back in action Sunday at Noon when they host Ohio State. Indiana will have three Big Ten Matches remaining after the Buckeyes traveling to Maryland and Northwestern along with a home match against Rutgers. The Hoosiers will have one more non-conference game and in state opponent in Trine University from Angola Indiana.

Indiana University Volleyball beats #15 Purdue to reclaim the Monon Spike
The Indiana Volleyball team (14-6, 4-3) broke the floodgates open in sets three and four, hitting over .300 in each frame enroute to a four-set victory over in-state rival and No. 15 Purdue. IU broke a 21-match losing streak to the Boilermakers and returned the series’ traveling trophy, the Monon Spike, back to Bloomington for the first time since 2007. The win over the No. 15 Boilermakers was the fourth top-15 win of the Steve Aird era and the first at home since opening the doors to Wilkinson Hall in 2019.

Junior setter Camryn Haworth was outstanding with 40 assists, nine digs, eight kills and three aces. Sophomores Candela Alonso-Corcelles and Avry Tatum tied for the team lead with 12 kills each. IU fans helped break the Wilkinson Hall attendance record (2,725) for the second-straight match, creating a raucous home environment.  IU won a majority of the statistical categories on the night, outhitting Purdue .281-.243 while acing them six times on four fewer service errors. The Hoosiers take possession of fourth place in the Big Ten and return to action on Saturday night vs. Michigan (7:00 PM). This marks the best 20-game start to a season (14-6) since 2010.

Indiana University Women’s Basketball adds Stetson to the Schedule
Indiana women’s basketball has announced an addition to its non-conference schedule with a home game against Stetson on Sunday, Dec. 3 inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The game will tip off at 2pm and will be shown on B1G+. The two programs are meeting for the second time ever with its only meeting in a 91-43 win for the Hoosiers on Nov. 26, 1999.

Season ticket holders will receive their ticket for this game separately from their season ticket package. If you received your season tickets via mail, your tickets will be mailed to you. If you chose mobile delivery, your tickets will be mobile delivered to you. Single game general admission tickets are now on sale from the IU Ticket office.
