Indiana University Men’s Basketball Lands Five Star Forward Liam McNeely for the 2024 Class
Class of 2024 5-star forward Liam McNeeley has committed to Indiana. The 6-foot-7 McNeeley announced the news live on ESPN on Sunday afternoon as part of the Top-Flight Invite in Las Vegas. “Coach Woodson has been recruiting me for a really long time,” McNeeley said on the ESPN broadcast.  “They’re (Indiana’s) interest in me has never wavered.  They’ve been the most consistent recruiting me, and I just feel really comfortable with them.” McNeeley said who he would be targeting to join him in Indiana’s class of 2024.  He pointed to his teammate he was there for the announcement in Las Vegas. “My first call will be to the man right here, Derik Queen,” McNeeley said.  “We need Derik Queen to come be a Hoosier.” He had one more potential classmate in mind. “Boogie Fland, that call is coming, you know it,” McNeeley said.

McNeeley chose Indiana over Kansas.  He previously named a top-six that also included Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan and Alabama. It was very much a group effort by the Indiana staff, with assistant coach Brian Walsh leading the way. In the ranking’s era, McNeeley is among the top-five all-time highest rated IU basketball recruits. He’s ranked the No. 14 overall player in nation, according to the On3 Industry Average, the No. 6 small forward, and he’s a consensus top-20 prospect across the recruiting services. As a junior at national prep school powerhouse Montverde Academy, McNeeley averaged 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game last season. On the Nike EYBL circuit he posted 16.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.  One of the best shooters in his class, he shot above 40 percent from three both in high school and EYBL action. The Richardson, Texas product is Indiana’s first commit in the class of 2024.

Indiana University Football lands two more commitments for the 2024 Class
Indiana football picked up two commitments last week from cornerback Josh Philostin and running back Justus Savage for the class of 2024. Philostin is the Hoosiers’ highest-ranked recruit in class of 2024. He’s ranked No. 487 overall, No. 41 among cornerbacks, No. 60 in the state of Florida and is considered a three-star recruit, per the 247 Sports Composite rankings. At 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, Philostin attends Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Fla. He picked Indiana over a slew of offers including Arkansas, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Texas A&M, UCF, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Wisconsin and others. Throughout his high school career, Philostin has played cornerback, wide receiver, running back, kick returner and punt returner, but he projects to play cornerback in college.

As a junior, he helped Cardinal Newman go 11-1 and reach the regional finals of Florida’s 1M playoffs. He logged four interceptions as a junior, along with 307 receiving yards and four touchdowns, according to Max Preps.  Philostin also runs track for Cardinal Newman. He took home a silver medal at the FHSAA 1A track meet in the 200-meter dash with a wind-legal 21.47 in spikes and won gold as a member of the 4×100 team, according to 247 Sports. This commitment continues Indiana coach Tom Allen’s track record of landing talented recruits from the state of Florida, especially cornerbacks and safeties. In recent years, Florida-based defensive backs to commit to Indiana include Amare Ferrell, Phillip Dunnam, Jamari Sharpe, James Monds III, Josh Sanguinetti, Tiawan Mullen and others.

Justus Savage a 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back from Fairburn, Ga. announced his commitment to Indiana the day after Philostin. According to 247 Sports, Savage also had offers from Toledo, Bethune-Cookman and Charleston Southern. Savage also posted on his X/Twitter account that he had scholarship offers from Jacksonville State and Austin Peay.  The running back does currently have a star rating on 247 Sports. However, he does play at Langston Hughes High School in the same backfield as Air Noland, the four-star Ohio State quarterback commit in the class of 2024.  Savage is the 19th player to commit to Indiana in the class of 2024 and Allen noted last week that this recruiting class is nearly complete, and that during the bye week, him and the coaching staff took the weekend to focus on recruiting and go out to watch different high school football prospects.  “You might add a guy or two, but I don’t see a lot more,” Allen said. “I’m thinking kind of the 18 to 20-ish range is kind of where you’re at, and then once again, the portal becomes utilized to offset any departures that you might have that you either expected or didn’t expect and to be able to keep the rooms balanced.”
