Indiana Cutters Head South to Face Kentucky Cardinals

The Indiana Cutters are back in action tomorrow night when the face the Kentucky Cardinals with a 7 PM kickoff at Nelson County High School in Bardstown Kentucky.  The Cutters will be looking for a road win for this first time this season after falling to the Fort Wayne Wolverines 2 weeks ago. The Cutters are coming off a 20-14 home win against the Stateline Seminoles last Saturday at Danville HS. The Cutters have scored 63 Points in 3 games and given up 32 points on defense. The Cutters have scored in all sorts of ways as the Cutters have 5 Rushing, 1 Passing, 1 Interception return, 1 Punt Return 1 fumble return, safety and field goal this season.  The Cardinals are 0-3 on the season and our hungry for a win. The Cardinals are new to the Battle Ground Football League and this will be the Cutters second trip to Bardstown with the first coming September 9th, 2017 when they beat the Mount Sterling Trojans 54-8 in the North Division Semifinals of the Mid-South Football Alliance.

Edgewood’s Luke Hayden to Play in Indiana North-South All Star Baseball Series

Edgewood Grad and Incoming Indiana University Freshman has been selected for the Indiana North-South All Star Baseball Series that will take place Tomorrow and Sunday in Evansville.  The Teams will play a doubleheader at the University of Evansville tomorrow at 12 PM Central Time followed by a single wooden bat game Sunday at 11 AM Central at Bosse Field. Hayden led Edgewood to a Sectional Championship this season falling to Northview in the Regional Semifinal at Danville. Hayden Pitched 3 No Hitters this season twice against Sullivan and the other coming against Indian Creek. Hayden was 7-2 in 10 starts and 11 games total. He pitched 62.2 Innings gave up 14 runs, 7 earned runs on 19 hits ,143 strikeouts 22 walks, 3 Hit batters with 7.82 ERA. Hayden had a .494 batting average, led the Team in Hits and Home runs and was 2nd in Runs Batted in.  

2021 Monroe County Sports Hall Fame Scholarship Winners Announced

The 2021 Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship winners have been announced.  One Male and One female athlete from Bloomington North, Bloomington South and Edgewood are honored each year with a $ 1,000 scholarship. The Winners from Bloomington North include Indiana University football Commit Aaron Steinfedlt along Track and Cross-Country runner Olivia Kaiser who will head to Western Colorado. Indiana State Football Commit Maddix Blackwell and Track Standout and Bradley Commit Amyiah Davis represent Bloomington South. Indiana University Softball Commit Taylor Minnick and Hanover Basketball Commit Coleman Sater represent Edgewood.  All three male scholarship winners play multiple sports, Steinfeldt Played Basketball and Baseball as well as Blackwell and Sater led Edgewood Baseball in Runs Batted in.  The female scholarship winners are standouts in multiple sports Minnick was a standout on the Edgewood Basketball team and Davis was a starter on the South Soccer Team. The 2021 Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at the Monroe Convention Center Friday August 6th.  Tickets are $ 50 and are available at www.monroecountyshof.org

Indiana Football Lands 2022 Commit Carter Smith

Indiana University Football has landed its 4th commit this week and 7th overall. Ohio Offensive Lineman Carter Smith has verbally committed to Indiana University. Smith is 6-6 275 Pounds from Olentangy Liberty High School in Powell Ohio. Smith picked Indiana over Tennessee, Northwestern and Virginia.  Indiana got commitments from Isaiah Jones, Trevell Mullen and Josh Hoover earlier this week.  Dasan McCullough, Kaiden Turner and Richard Thomas committed earlier this year. All athletes in this class cannot sign a national letter of intent until December 2021 or February 2022 when the national signing period begins.
