Indy 11 loses to Birmingham Legion FC 1-0
While Indy Eleven goalkeeper Bobby Edwards recorded five saves, it was an early penalty kick conversion sent past him by Birmingham Legion FC striker Neco Brett that made the difference in a 1-0 defeat for the Eleven Saturday evening at IUPUI Michael A. Carrol Stadium. The loss kept Indy Eleven in fourth place in the Central Division standings, while Legion FC used the three points to go back atop the Central table. Indiana’s Team continues to see struggles on its home pitch, having now gone winless in its last four times out at “The Mike.”

Indy Eleven will return home on Saturday, July 17, when it hosts Community Heroes Night, presented by Community Health Network Foundation, against Memphis 901 FC. Tickets for the 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff are limited but still available and can be secured by visiting indyeleven.com/tickets or by calling 317-685-1100 during regular business hours. Fans who can’t make it to “The Mike” can follow the action on MyINDY-TV 23, ESPN+, Exitos Radio 94.3 FM/exitos943.com, and the @IndyElevenLive Twitter feed, presented by Central Indiana Honda Dealers.

105 IU Athletes earn Distinguished Scholar Award
The Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday that 1,517 students – including 105 from Indiana athletics teams – have earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. The list includes students from all 14 institutions and 38 different sports, who have recorded a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year. The 105 honorees from Indiana represents a school record and the second straight year the Hoosiers have set a record for most honorees. It also represents a significant improvement from the 67 honorees in the 2018-19 school year. In the 2019-20 school year it was 96 honorees. This also comes on the heels of 155 Indiana student-athletes earning spring/at-large Academic All-Big Ten Honors, another program record.
